It beats potentially losing $5,000 out sheer ignorance/neglect. And th pay out sucks for betting Mayweather, with huge potential consequences. There are smarter ways to gamble rather than saying "**** it, it's ********."
Please when you have time, I'd like to see how betting on 2 guys in the same fight is going to make you money or break you even...the odds are specifically designed against that happening.

      Floyd "Money" Mayweather 1/11 (-1100)
Marcos Rene "El Chino" Maidana 13/2 (+650)

Lets say you place $770 on Maidana with your $5,000 and $4230 on Floydie.

Maidana wins you win $5...Floyd wins you lose $385.

How about 4,800 on Floyd to take 5,236...and $200 on Maidana to win $1300?

You would need an amount to cover each fighter if they lose and it is, with the given odds of the fight...no matter WHERE you find them...Mathematically impossible.

If you've invested money in stocks and they've grown a lot over time then you know that $5,000 isn't that much money in the grand scheme of investments and Floyd Mayweather returns 10% faster than Bernie Madoff ever did.

The 2-5% chance that Mayweather loses also probably matches up with the odds that any given stock you buy will go bankrupt and cost you your much more conservative investment.

If you say you've always been against him in fights, then i'd tell you to ask your self "is it worth 5K dollars to watch floyd lose?, if yes, then go for it!
he wins, you win, he lose, then your happy he finally lost and think that you had to pay 5,000 to do it. so win/win

This time i'm going to disagree with you. ******** in a boxing fight once you placed your bet and the fight is already ongoing, there is no way you can recover even a cent of that money you placed on the losing boxer, while in the stock market, if you're watching the ticker parade all the time and you've heard some rumor the money you invested on a certain stock is not doing good, you still have time at least to get some portion of that money back.

In ******** like betting on floyd, once floyd starts faltering and you know he's losing, will you be able to bet on his opponent or will there be any takers at all just for you to recover a portion of your losing bet? Zilch of course!

You people need to stop this nonsense. Betting on Maidana is ******, end of story. Broner simply made Maidana look good. You need to rewatch it and imagine if that wasn't Broner when Maidana was open in so many instances in that fight.

Obviously if you weren't insecure, you would correct people and offer advice instead of calling them ******s. Your diplomacy falls way short. And over 15 years I have seen my stocks grow and grow, which comes from being diversified and more so from those in my Vangard than my Merrill lynch but still grow. My investments have worked for me and through recessions over a long period of time. To each his own. But my advice is just as sound if not far more sound than someone else's advice of ******** the money in Boxing, and I don't call people ******s if they decide to gamble in sports instead of investing in stocks, or any other facet within each realm, meaning who or what they invest or gamble in.

Man, you should have bet that money on the Mayweather-Canelo fight, the odds were relatively close for a Mayweather fight.

Risking 5k for $500 just isn't worth the, albeit minimal, risk IMO, you can't rule out a freak injury or something unexpected happening. However, yes I think Mayweather is as safe a bet you can get in boxing. If you want to maximize profit though, you should do a parlay bet and select from the undercard or put that money on the over because this fight is pretty much guaranteed go 12 rounds.

I do think Canelo has pop but he's not on Maidana's level when it comes to power.

I think that goes without saying.
