I don't bet often but wouldn't it for this fight be a good idea to bet on the specific outcome like a larger amount on a Floyd decision and maybe a much smaller amount on a Maidana ko since if he wins its going to be by a stoppage no way he takes its to the cards and decisions Floyd...... rather than just either Floyd or Maidana winning?
is it ****** to bet $5000 to win $500 for floyd?

If winning $500 is a lucrative enough return for you to consider risking $5000 then I suspect you are not in a position to lose $5000.
No one gambles $5000 for such a meagre return (proportional to the betting price 1/10) who can afford it. You bet big to win big, not win small. People who value $500 as a significant amount of money proportional to the betting price, cannot afford to lose that money.
So my advice, don't. Floyd is 8/13 to win by decision, you'd get $8000 back for that from $5000. Much better value and just as likely as it is Floyd winning.Comment

Here are your options
A) Basically to win $500 for Floyd to win any method you have to put on $5000.
B) Now, to win $500 for Floyd to win ON POINTS all you have to bet is $825.
Your risking $4175 less.
Floyd hasn't knocked someone out properly since 2007. Maidana is a tough guy, he'll be here at the final bell more than likely. Floyd won't risk mixing it up with him going for a knock out, he'll cruise to a decision.
It's a no brainer. Go with option B.Last edited by Grimmer; 04-29-2014, 03:14 PM.Comment

I love hold'em. Sports betting is good if you know the sport, like poker is good for those who know how to play. There is blatant uninformed risk taking, and there are measured risks lol.Comment

For me it would be ****** because I am college student and don't have money to spare like that. But if you have it, and it's relatively nothing to you, then go ahead, that is an extra $500 in your pocket but it kinda seems pointless cause if $5k is nothing, then what would $500 be?Comment

depends mate, I would bet around 800 as the other people said to get floyd to win on points
then the other 4200 for him to win our right, that is if you are confident he will definitely win this fight, its pretty certain he will win by decision if he does win
personally? I would never bet on boxing, last time I bet was floyd vs mosley, I put a hell of a lot of money on floyd, round 2 when mosley landed the 2nd big right, my heart started pounding so much, I was so scared lol
sure I won a lot in the end but it killed the boxing match for meComment

Yes, it's pretty ******. Anything can happen during a fight, & the judges could even be crooked & give a bad decision.
Just look at the Canelo fight - one judge was obviously influenced by the promoter or someone else & scored it a draw...either to save face for Canelo or influence the payouts on bets.
A $500 payout is not worth it to me.Comment
