Remember how Wlad auctioned off his gold medal in the benefit of charity? This man is not only after personal glory, unlike a certain Mayweather!

Somebody come with a reasonable argument please.

In Basketball, Cycling, Soccer/Football, etc. you have pros competing against pros. Wlad would be fighting mostly amateurs. This is a terrible idea.

He could eventually be allowed to take part in the 2016 Olympics if others pro Heavyweights decide to participate. It would still be a bad idea just because you don't mix amateurs and pros.

Really? I don't see Floyd running around trying to fight amateurs and part time boxers just to get a medal.

The thing is that boxing should be open for pros just like cycling, basketball, tennis etc.

But this is a combat sport where people can get seriously hurt

Ameateurs would be going against guys who KO people for a living while they were trying to outpoint a guy with headgear on

Give me a ****ing break. How the hell do you defend that.
So Wlad is just to good to be allowed to compete? Is that a valid criteria? I could mention probably about 100 athletes in olympic history that would be bigger favourites than a 40 year old 12 round boxer.

What are you even talking about? We're talking boxing here! Who cares if Phelps is a better swimmer or athlete, what does that have to do with anything? He's not fighting Klitschko.

By Nature boxing is different than any other sports. Your argument only holds if you suggest that we Ban the sport altogether. I remember in 1984 or 1988 olympics where some boxer from Tonga participated. He looked like a fighting Eddie the Eagle. He fought an American or cuban in the first round and was stopped in less than a minute.
