Silly for Wlad to even think about it. Under the new rules a professional fighter cannot have more that 15 pro bouts to compete in the Olympics.

****ty excuse. Offer this chump a million and he'll jump on it and sell his soul like the rest. Stop acting like he's so good that if he fought he'd make billions. If he could make any money at the pro level he'd do it.
Because Klitschko needs one round to mop the floor with these amateurs.
He's got some medals already, he should try to collect some belts. But I guess it's better to be the best chump instead of fighting real pro's and then realize he can't hang with them. That's a good excuse.Comment

people here talking about pros from other sports being allowed don't seem to understand that those guys aren't punching eachother in the face.
Allowing pros to fight in the olympics can only hurt the amateur game. No amateur could compete with the likes of wlad, GGG, pac, floyd, Kovalev or whatever.
You don't stick an amateur kid with a few years experience in the ring with the heavyweight champion of the world period. Anybody who thinks you should is a biased clown with an agenda. Of course there are a lot of them in this place.
If this was prime Tyson talking about going to fight a few scrawny kids in the Olympics people would literally be outraged and see just how ******, unfair and dangerous it is. It's like sticking a lamb in a cage with a tiger and saying there that's a fair fight. But for some reason when it's wlad saying it you have the same bunch of nuthuggers saying oh yeah beating up a few kids would be an incredible achievement, fair play to him ... if prime Tyson suggested it everybody would laugh and say what is this a joke? This is dangerous, ****** and pointless what's the baddest man on the planet trying to prove ... he can beat up a kid? wow epic!
but of course the nuthuggers will always support their guys for their own reasons so whatever.Comment

If Wlad does joins the Olympics I hope that every other heavy weight in the world joins it as well.
Wlad has been boxing for more years than some of the other Olympians have been alive.
Wlad is a pile of dung and bad for boxing.Comment

True, but the minimum age for boxing in the Olympics is 17 years of age. Do you really want to see Klitchko possibly matched against a teenager? Outside of the seasoned Teofilo Stevenson, I cannot think of any past Olympic heavy or super heavy champion being competitive against Klitchko.
As awesome as the 19 year old George Foreman was in winning his Gold Medal in 1968, he wouldn't stand a chance against a seasoned pro like Klitchko. Now, in my opinion, the 1968 Gold Medalist Foreman KO's the 1996 Gold Medalist Klitchko.
That is why professional boxers should not be allowed to compete in the Olympics.Comment

One thing that nobody seems to mention is the hall of fame trainer Emanuel Steward was urging Wladimir to do this. This isn't just Wladimir's idea.
Also, there are other reasons for someone to want to try to win in the Olympics. He might be wanting to win a medal for his country. In some other places in the world that is a really big deal . That's why in some countries like the area where he was from didn't allow its athletes to even go pro so that they can represent their country in the Olympics. So growing up in a area and in that era like that would make getting a medal a bigger deal. Who knows what else-- maybe this was his dads wish before he died or maybe Hayden said she's not putting out until he gets the gold. Who knows.
And I seen a couple people respond when someone mentioned that professional athletes such as basketball players from the NBA are going to the Olympics with:
1) Well that's different they don't hurt each other in that sport.
2) Well other players from the NBA are representing their teams too.
1) Ok if you are worried about their safety maybe you should contact the Olympic board about keeping the headgear. They seem to not be too worried about it. The sport is about hitting the other person . I don't think anyone gets into amateur or pro boxing and thinks this is a great sport to never get hurt in.
2) Ya since 1992 the talent pool of the NBA has dissipated enough to where more and more countries have NBA stars. In 1992, when it was said the US team was going to do this everyone knew that the US team would win. Even now when there is a dream team this is known. That's because the vast majority of the NBA stars are from the USA. I don't see how this is any different than everyone knowing/expecting Klitschko would win but other professional boxers are allowed in to compete.
You also have to consider Wladimir would be 40 + years old if he fought in the Olympics. This must be a testament at the very least of how well people see him being able to keep in shape because I can't think of too many past greats at 38 + years old where if you heard they were going to compete in the Olympics the 1st thing that comes to mind would be how unfair that would be.Comment
