Moreover, he would have been excoriated badly and very rightfully so because of it; By not only boxing fans but by the boxing media/press alike; Which includes the likes of HBO boxing personalities such as: Larry Merchant, Jim Lampley and Max Kellerman whom all appear to be his staunchest supporters.
However since he's not, the bar of excellence is set much lower for him, in regards to all the great Heavyweight champions of the past. Which is for obvious reasons and it just so happens to be the major reason, why he is still so popular among boxing fans even today and it has very little to do with his ring performances.
