If you watch the fight Porter utilized his size on the inside by using his forearm and shoving Paulie off of him to reset and get the right distance. He continued to punish Paulie's sides in almost every clinch and you could tell they were solid. My only issue is that he continued to try and go over the top when they got inside with wide hooks to the head. That worked against Paulie but against a Mayweather who has amazing head movement it wont. For a guy of his size his inside game is somewhat brutish and sloppy.

I saw many opportunities in the clinch where one hand was free and he could have tightened up his shoulders and come up underneath with tight hooks to the body and uppers. Not every fighter is perfect but a guy of his smaller stature and strength could add some of these aspects to his game and he'd improve greatly. Basically he could use some rhythm to his inside game with more movement with his legs to position himself for hooks a la Tyson. Other than that, excellent jab, nice explosive leaping hooks (that isn't necessarily a bad thing) and killer instinct against Paulie. I'm a huge fan.

He has a strong amateur background. He's short with dinosaur arms. He has to work extra hard and get extra rough to get inside and do his thing. Julio Diaz was able to use his jab and control distance which gave Porter problems.

His fundamentals are pretty sound. He has good in and out footwork, works his way inside with a jab, has good timing, controls distance well and is a hell of an inside fighter.

Considering that these new young breed of fighters have no inside game, Porter will be able to expose that and become a real problem, especially at welterweight.

Brook just said on Ringside that Porter's been stopped a few times in the Amateurs.

Don't know how true that is and it doesn't mean all that much but maybe that's a question mark on his chin.

        Diaz buzzed him.

I think he looked fantastic, he really won me over blasting Paulie like that.

I thought he wasn't ready for Alexander and he dominated him, I thought he would beat Paulie but not like that lol

Yeah he was stopped but remember he was fighting Super Middleweights. He fought at 165 as an amateur.

He's pretty good needs to be tested against a heavy hitting ww and someone who will give him angles I don't want him to fight Thurman yet. It's to soon if one of them took a loss at this early stage it'll really set there careers back I'd like to let that fight build some steam.

He beat Demetrius Andrade who is 6'1.

He also beat Edwin who is a big puncher.

Not hard, his footspeed is very good.

He is like a little pitbull, very strong kid & explosive but realistically speaking he did what really he should. Isn't that what a guy with his assets should be doing to a fighter who hasn't the power to command anybodies respect?.
                      Plenty couldn't.

I have a feeling they're lining up Fanny Garcia for FMJ in Sept. I'd rather see Porter in there if he beats Brook.
