    Shawn Porter is incredibly crude

Just rewatched the Malignaggi fight for the first time and there's a couple of things that strike me about Porter.

    1) Malignaggi held his own on the inside clinches physically

    - that surprised me as Malignaggi really isn't known for being the strongest fighter - especially as he's really a natural 140 pounder. Of course this was just based on the 1½ rounds where he actually had his full faculties with him.

    2) Lack of technique

    - Porter leaps in on many occasions, without purpose. He swings wildly time after time AFTER Malignaggi was hurt which shows a little lack of composure and something that could hurt him when he moves up against bigger stronger guys.

    3) Complaining

    - He complained after the first round that Malignaggi punched him behind the head. As the going gets tough, he needs to show up in the big fights. What is he going to do when a Maidana will smash him up everywhere from the hips and upwards?

Of course, some of these points may not apply to him further down the line - and other than the points above, he looks an awesome prospect.

    Take a look:

I'm not sold, he did pretty well against Alexander and Malignaggi two fighters with many deficiencies, neither of which could punch, counter well or fight on the inside. Even in how he dismantled both I saw holes in his defense, so I'm not sold, don't understand how everyone else is. When you got a fighter like Porter, one who operates in that kind of a style, isn't it logical to see how well he knows how to pick his spots and isn't he suppose to show that against a good counter puncher with good power?

Wasn't meant to say he was crap or anything like that, he's obviously a big talent.

Just a few things he needs to improve on (imo) before taking on the very best.

          Hes the total package

Hes fast enough to box and physically strong enough to fight toe to toe

He has a very sneaky hook that he hurt Malinaggi with

I think he fought alittle wildly because Malinaggi was talking **** and couldn't bust a g****.

Hes a much better fighter than Thurman who was exposed by Diego Chaves

He has a short reach I believe, so I don't see him as a master boxer at all. He needs to get on the inside to do damage.

Wouldn't call his hook sneaky - it's good and powerful - but he leaps off his feet when he throws it.

Shawn Porter is a beast. But yes, a bit crude. I miss his old days bodywork. It's devastating.

I don't see people sold on him.

Just see a good fighter in the WW mix.

He has obvious flaws, as do most. He also brings a lot to the table that will trouble a lot of Top WW's.

He seems like a great guy though.

Porter was strong, rough and dirty...
... And what did you expect to see against Paulie? Porter to outbox him?
