Exactly. Sergio has more than proven himself, no need to go around doing GGG any favors. Had GGG had a belt a few years ago Sergio would have gone after him and probably school him like he did against another undefeated Eastern European prodigy (Serhiy Dzinziruk).
Now Cotto is a nice payday for Sergio, why should he waste one of his last few fights when he already holds the belt, and there's better paying fights?
Besides, we've gone through this before. If GGG wants the champ he should start by fighting better names, what's wrong with Ward, not good boy enough? I like GGG, but at some point you have to risk it and cross paths with lions (like Martinez did), and only then you have the right to go after the lion king.

I won't reply to all of you, but what candy land do you live in? Sergio retirement payday is his problem, he is avoiding the man in his division. Coward of course he is not, that was an overstatement. But fact remains Sergio won't fight his top contender, and is developing a big mouth.

I admit coward was a wrong choice of words, read post above yours. I was making threads about Sergio getting the big fights when nobody would fight him. Now Sergio won't give a top dog a chance. In all reality it does not matter to me.

I don't see any fighter trying to better themselves financially by fighting, as a coward. If you fight for a living, the last thing you are is a coward.

The worst thing I call fighters is a C fighter, bum, brawler, "He sucks", no defense etc, but never a coward. Boxers aren't scared to fight other boxers, regardless of what some armchair warriors think. Every move is a business move. GGG offering Chavez a fight over Ward is a business move, Martinez fighting Cotto is a business move for both.

Dude, Ward and GGG are a division apart. Sergio and GGG are in the same division. Chavez is a tough cash cow who everybody want's to fight regardless of weight.

As soon as a guy doesn't look so hot they are already onto the next.

Why can't 'fans' support more than one fighter or like two guys who or potentially will fight?

Sergio has earned his stripes & he did it the hard way. He is an injury prone 40yr old coming off a long lay off, who can really blame him for taking the biggest payday he can get?

I mean come on you are calling him a coward. So you're telling me if you was Sergio you'd fight GGG over Cotto for 1/6th of the pay?

Sergio takes a big money fight against Cotto = Coward!

GGG ducks Lara, Ward & the likes for a big money fight in Chavez Jr, more Sergio left overs = Gets praised for it.

Cotto is a HOF and that's a big money fight. I don't blame him.

Since he has 1 more fight left on his hbo contract, he should fight ggg next
