Both Chavez and Cotto are no walkovers. Sergio is getting on and if he gets past Cotto he can go after GGG then. Going for GGG early makes him a fool, any man who is professional boxer by deffinition can not be a coward. The worst criticism you can lay against him is that he is a cherry picker and Cotto is no easy opponent. GGG has not faced any tough opposition yet Martinez is more proven. GGG vs Chavez and Cotto would be a huge step up in class for him.Last edited by Isaac Hunt; 04-23-2014, 04:52 AM.

Pavlik, Cintron, Margarito, Williams, Chavez Jr, Barker, Macklin, Murray
Just a few of his opponents: 5 of them were champions, past, present or future. 4 of them were top ranked contenders at 160 long before GGG even made a splash.
Pavlik was the number one middleweight on the planet.
Williams one of the most avoided fighters on the planet.
Margarito one of the most feared fighters of the 00s.
Yes Sergio is a coward.

No, not really. I would really like to see him fight GGG, but if he's so shot he can't make it past Cotto, a GGG fight woulda be farcical anyway. If he does beat Cotto though (and I woulda said he needed some kinda tune-up fight anyway after his injuries) and still looks good, thn I'd very much hope he will fight Golovkin.
Maravilla is getting old but has a young mans style - he's entertained us a lot over the years and been a great champ - he deserves the Cotto payday, just as he deserved the Jr one where he put a beating on a guy 20lbs or so bigger than him - at the point Golovkin was a mainstream irrelevence - can't blame him for that.
That said, if he continues to fight after Cotto, Golovkin will be the biggest and most relevent fight for him at MW, and should be the one he takes.

I don't think he's a coward at all. He's just trying to cash out before he retires. If GGG is really as good as advertised than he will still be there in 6 months to a year. By then the fight will be too big to pass up.

he's fighting Cotto because it's a big money fight, and the dude is going on 40 years old and he wants a pay-day before he retires
look at sergio's resume and the guys he's beaten, look how many undefeated fighters he's beaten. he moved up to 160 because nobody at 154 would fight him
to call him a coward just shows how uneducated you are as a fan, smh
he realizes that if he fought GGG and lost, the Cotto fight wouldn't be there (as Cotto is only fighting because the title is on the line)
as a boxing fan, normally I would be upset by this but because the fight intrigues me and should be very entertaining, I don't mind it
as long as we are getting good fights, I don't care if fighters are making "business" decisions for themselves. it's only when the business decisions for themselves result in terrible fights is when I call bullshitLast edited by joesaiditstrue; 04-23-2014, 05:00 AM.
