Watch the 12th round of his fight with Chavez Jnr and call the man a coward. He was out on his feet, and where most fighters would be holding on for dear life, he fought his way out of the round. He's a fighting man, end of.

Contrary to popular belief, no one's chin is uncrackable. With GGG's power and Jr.'s nonexistent defense, it would be no shock if GGG stopped him. Jr.'s only chance is to try and smother GGG's power like he against Rubio. Problem is, GGG is a much better inside fighter than Rubio with a superior punch variety, and has a pretty good chin himself.

He couldn't get fights at 154. What does he do? Moves up and fights some of the biggest fighters at MW. People always criticize his fights against Macklin, Barker and Murray but they're all solid fighters. There's no way Sergio is a coward.

Sergio hasn't had a real money fight in his career. He deserves this fight against Cotto.

He's a champion. He's not a coward. He's just trying to make some big money at the end of his career.

He want to make big money, go ahead.

Golovkin will be the biggest money fight available for his last HBO fight. Sergio wants to jump ship after that, my bet is Golovkin will be the only fight they approve with good money

I don't have an issue with him taking the Cotto fight. It's not like he's Floyd or Manny with a long string of PPV fights behind him. It's a big opportunity for him to cash in on his career's work in a way he hasn't managed to date. So it's understandable.

Just as importantly, it doesn't kill the GGG fight either. Golovkin can still fight Martinez at the end of this year. If Sergio then decides to avoid Golovkin once again, then that's a different story. I think it would be difficult to continue recognising Martinez as the 'real' middleweight champion if he ducks Golovkin a second time.

Martinez fought Paul Williams twice. Williams was one of the most proven and feared men in boxing, a skilled, bigger and stronger boxer that many were avoiding. When he fought Chavez and got KD in the 12th after schooling Chavez the entire fight, he didnt clinch like a sane, reasonable person would, and went back to trade punches risking everything when there was nothing left to prove. Of course being stoned to the eyeballs, even hitting Chavez over the head with a 2x4 wouldnt have been enough to KO him.
I dont like Sergio's personality, but he's got some huge brass balls.

Sergio knows hes beaten some nice names like Pavlik and Paul Williams and has over achieved in a sense.
But probably knows hes not as good as his ranking suggests. He was taken to the wire by guys not rated too highly.
But he wants some nice names on his resume like Cotto, before diving in the deep end against GGG.

Only on NSB could a fighter (Martinez) be called a coward and a ducker for fighting an opponent (Cotto) for more money and probably less risk than another opponent (GGG).

Coward is a title reserved for Floyd. Martinez ay have ducked GGG but it pale in comparison with Floyd's ducking.
