Because he isn't naive like you. You think he's going to pass up a winnable fight in Cotto and make way more money than he would against a fighter he would probably lose to for much less?

He's 40 years old, coming off major injuries, paid his dues in the sport by fighting very decent competition (Pavlik, Williams x2, Cintron, Margarito, Barker, Macklin) and always has shown the heart of a warrior. To call him a coward is so ignorant.

look at sergio's resume and the guys he's beaten, look how many undefeated fighters he's beaten. he moved up to 160 because nobody at 154 would fight him

to call him a coward just shows how uneducated you are as a fan, smh
No you are the tool. I don't care about Miguel losses every big fight Cotto. Martinez has a sharp tong but no balls to face Fighters like GGG at his own weight class.

You know who does care about Sergio Martinez's bank account? Sergio Martinez.

Good luck trying to convince Sergio Martinez to pass up a big fight with Miguel Cotto to go get slaughtered by the hands of GGG. He'd probably say "What are you ******, kid?"

And let me ask you this: how do you think a fight between GGG and Martinez play out?

If he doesn't fight GGG after this one then its stamped he is a duck, because at this point taking Cotto over GGG is commonsense as its lesser risk and more money and Sergio being a late bloomer and at his age needs to maximize his earnings whether we like it or not.

After Cotto I don't see why he should fight anyone else. Sturm will never leave Germany nor vice versa and Quillin is with Showtime.

So you just admitted Sergio would get beat by GGG, so he is fighting Cotto?

That is why people are giving him a pass. The injuries plus the brutal power of GGG makes it excusable. After the Cotto fight I think Sergio retires.

If he does, how do you say good by in Spanish? But I don't think Surge will retire, just keep cherry picking. With help from bald Duva.

After Cotto there is no one else except GGG. It will look too obvious to cherry pick after Cotto.
