Rigondeaux-Agbeko was something like the lowest-rated BAD main event in the series history.
Most early estimates project Pac-Bradley II had more pay per view buys than Rigondeaux-Agbeko had viewers.
No comparison.Last edited by Mitchell Kane; 04-22-2014, 02:31 PM.Comment

There's almost always something that's competing with boxing.
Between the Pacquiao fight and Hopkins fight, there were 1,449,000 people watching boxing at the same time. That's a pretty normal number for a Saturday boxing audience, if not above normal number.Comment

The reasons for the Cold War (which is between promoters not networks as networks are not really expected work together) are numerous and date back long before Floyd went to Showtime.
You dont have to take my word for it. Research the history/economics of PPV yourself, its pretty interesting.Comment

Not playoffs in 2 of the biggest sports in the US and a free UFC event.Comment

Just for comparison to last year....April 27th...during the NBA playoffs and the final night of the NHL regular season:
SHO - Danny Garcia-Zab Judah, Peter Quillin-Fernando Guerrero:
"drew a 1.4 average rating during the broadcast. The peak point of their show drew a 2.1 rating. The live viewing drew 850,000 viewers and the two following broadcasts drew a combined 100,000 viewers, putting the number at 950,000"
HBO - Bermane Stiverne-Chris Arreola, Sergio Martinez-Martin Murray:
"During Martinez***8217;s tight decision win over Murray, HBO drew 696,000 viewers. During Arreola-Stiverne, HBO had 747,000 viewers"

Ok i dont know if those are good numbers to you "network junkies" but in the US there are 4 major sports and 2 of them are in playoffs. Its not the last day of the season, they are in the playoffs.Just for comparison to last year....April 27th...during the NBA playoffs and the final night of the NHL regular season:

Im a baseball guy and if there are playoffs im recording any boxing and watching baseball. Im sure im not the only one in the US that does that but if you guys want to argue numbers and who is the better network then go right ahead.
This isnt something im that much interested in. I just knew it affected it but have no interest in trying to decipher year old statistics for TV veiwing
I watched the fights over playoffsComment

LMAO is this a joke? something like 700,000 subscribers paid $70 extra to watch it on its original run, of which HBO gets a cut and then they don't have to put up any further money to broadcast it the next week and it still did better ratingsComment

I would be down with that. Just get my fix on friday night fights. What did they expect??? Most fans had never seen or heard of Bebut and after a struggle against another no name Murat, it was bound to happen even if the numbers were higher for Murat. If that card had been any combination of fights between Hopkins/Stevenson/Kovalev, the ratings would have been through the roof. And to think Showtime doesn't insist on some combination of the trio just mentioned, serves them well. Too bad Showtime and HBO wouldn't just drop Boxing until GBP and TR were forced to work with each other to make the big fights. Wont happen but it is a nice fantasy.Comment
