Stevenson had the chance to fight Kovalev but jumped ship. Stevenson vs Kovalev was the fight everyone wanted to see. Hopkins is merely fighting the guys he has access to. He knows he can't fight Kovalev right now, plus Stevenson is the lineal champ.
Yeah it wasn't to say that he was ducking and dodging, and looking for the easiest fight. like u said, he's been with SHO for a while. I guess i'm one of the few who sees Hopkins as the man of this division. Not Stevenson, not Kovalev (and not Ward). So, to me, he doesn't have to move to do a damn thing. Dawson couldn't run with his win over Bernard, So there was a huge opportunity for a willing someoneto go after him since the heir apparent (Ward) chose not to pressure him. Happens to be Stevenson who is next one who wants to try

I'm not sure if Froch-Groves II was picked up by HBO on a stipulation that will have a multi fight deal for the fighters, but there's also that.

So it's obvious that HBO has the superior SMW-LHW line up, while Showtime's strength is 140-154.

I don't think it benefits Kovalev to go to Showtime for just 1-2 good fights, and possibly a loss to Hopkins. And aside from staying in Showtime for a Stevenson fight, it benefits Hopkins to go to HBO but that's just not happening unless he leaves GBP which has zero chance of happening. If Hopkins beats Stevenson, he should retire. But we all said if Hopkins beats Tarver he should retire, 9 years later he's in line to fight another Ring 175 champ.
      ... Desperation produces confusion...
... You're melting names and divisions in order to hide the fact that HBO is proper fucked right now...
... And when you think that all these began with the Russian killers trying to take the front scene...

(Send the Russians back in Europe and you'll have peace under the olives on the U.S. boxing scene...)

Haha, they know that if Hopkins is able to beat Stevenson, that a demand for Kovalev vs Hopkins will be in. He's already putting the pressure on Kovalev to leave HBO and come to Showtime. Dirty tactics, but hey, it got me to cancel my HBO and subscribe to Showtime. At the moment they seem to have the better fighters, and the potential for bigger fights.
If Haymon steals Chavez Jr. from Top Rank, you can throw him in the mix of guys at 175, or catch weight from 168.
Kovalev can't cross the street, and Schaefer knows it. He's under contract with HBO. I'm sorry to hear that you fell for the okie-dokie and dropped one network for the other. I'm still waiting for the "bigger fights" @ Showtime. They have a penchant for selling what appears to be great fights to some, but many are actually second-tier fights that we fans must settle for.

Hea fought much much better comp than Kov. Bute alone is better than anyone on Kov list.
Well that's just simply not even remotely true.

            Childish resume arguments.

Watch the fighters' last three fights and see who wins after the eye test.

Doest matter. resume means nothing to Jas.

Im simply saying that if you wanna call Kov 3 then go right ahead. I have him 4 but 3 ok. But point is that the LHW division isnt a 3 man race its a 4 man.

I know its off subject but if BHop fights stevenson then pascal i have no issues with it. I have no issues with any of these 4 fighting.

"Like you all do" is general anyway.

Lucas, ruslan, Kov, Rios, are just a few that have struck posters with cupids arrow
