Comments Thread For: Hopkins Hints Again at Desire to Face Floyd Mayweather

Bernard Hopkins has spoken of it before, and he’s now bringing it up again: a potential fight with pound-for-pound and box-office king Floyd Mayweather.

“After I become light heavyweight champion again, if there’s one big fight out there and I think ‘50-50,’ he gets 50 wins, I turn 50, that’d be huge at 165, 170 pounds,” he said, a reference to Hopkins’ upcoming birthday in January 2015 and to Floyd Mayweather’s anticipated record of 49-0 once he reaches the end of his Showtime deal at the end of 2015.

Hopkins will probably ask for 50-50 or 55-45 or something.

Bad fight...B-Hop simply can't beat Floyd at this age. It would almost be like replaying his RJJ fight, albeit being what...25 years older. UD Floyd. Wouldn't happen anyway.

That would be the most boring fight ever.

15, 10, or even 8 years ago, Hopkins would have had a great chance, but is far too big.

Now, he would do his awkward defensive slop-fest while Floyd throws his signature 12 punches a round hoping to pot-shot the old man.

          Snoozefest until the end.

WTF? Surely he can't be serious here. Is this just a very roundabout way of telling everybody that if he beats Stevenson, he won't be fighting Kovalev after that?

floyd would not beat his ass, we have weight classes for a reason. isnt bhop 6 feet tall, floyd is fcking 5'7. this would be like oscar-hopkins.

if floyd moves up to beat bhop, nobody here can ever doubt his greatness

                  edit: floyd is 5'8 sorry
