Unifying titles at almost half a century old? Crazy. I remember 14 or so years ago they were already talking about Hopkins possibly being too old to compete at an elite level.

I feel good for him. After all the years of disrespect and hate from boxing fans and media he has finally been getting the praise he deserves.

not a Hopkins fan but he has been fighting pretty solid guys the last 5 years. shumenov is the only stiff I see & maybe the ornealas guy but even murat isn't a stiff...i'd like to see him fight those 3 you listed too

Hopkins the real "T.B.E" I don't know what Floyd title gonna be but he can't have that one. Put Hopkins in Floyd's shoes and he would be begging to face Pacquiao, he does it for legacy, Floyd is no doubt "T.G.B" The Greatest Businessman, though.

Haters have to give respect to B-Hop after he wins and then go back to saying he needs to go away, fights bums, is dirty and boring before his next fight until he comes out on top again. Then it's back to "Well, I respect B-Hop for....etc.".

He lost badly to Campillo in 2010 and two crooked judges gave him Campillo's belt. He was a paper belt holder, never a champion. Glad Hopkins slapped him around

Its like people do not know what they are watching, it wasn't Shumenov it was all Bernard Hopkins! He made Shumenov look that way, and Al Bernstein still does not have a clue, with all of the boxing history in his head, its like he doesn't know what he is seeing in there - It's like they should have been giving the old man praise instead of berating Shumenov. And people on here talking ABOUT THE kRUSHER YADA YADA - Main Events doesn't want that for their fighter.. Kovalev is good, but the Alien is no Joke!

I agree. Shumenov loses and everybody wants to jump all over him and call him a "bum" and "worst fighter they've ever seen." Hopkins won this fight more than Shumenov lost it. Shumenov will be back. I'm just amazed at BHop. What he's doing at his age is no joke. I had reservations about this fight but I he made me a believer. Won't bet against him again.

Shumenov is mediocre. Period. Anyone trying to say otherwise hasn't seen him much. That said, even mediocre pros beat 49 year olds. Hopkins does rare things.

Yeah Shumenov isn't anything special -- he looks pretty good against low level fighters but stepping up in comp, especially against someone like B-Hop who has seen everything (not just once, but multiple times), this was bound to happen.
