      • Arum is trying his best to go out like Don King, he already burned SHO when he took Pacquiao for 1 fight them told them to fuck off. HBO got scared after the Hauser articles and started catering to whatever he wanted, now he can't even get keep his fighters in line. If Pacquaio and Chavez jr leave Arum you can expect HBO to drop him like a bad habit. He's going to be relegated to Pinoy Power and Latin Fury's again until he becomes irrelevant.

It means they're not going stop promoting Floyd/GBP's upcoming bout due to a bitter play by Arum to try to take some cream off his competitors numbers. Arum booked the MGM when he did to hurt Floyd/GBP's event, period. He did the same thing last year when he put Chavez-Martinez on the same day in the same city as Canelo's already scheduled event.

No one in their right mind would expect any venue to not promote an upcoming bout featuring Floyd Mayweather due to some other event being booked three weeks beforehand. Arum knew this when he booked the MGM. Now he is throwing a fit because they didn't cease to promote Mayweather's bout while Pacquiao's was happening.

MGM didn't mess anything up; MGM got it right. Rejected Pacquiao's bout? On what grounds? It's not the MGMs place to get involved in this kind of petty, bitter ****.

So Top Rank didn't prefer to have Pacquiao-Bradley II at Mandalay Bay?

And it wasn't MGM that wanted the fight at MGM instead?

Top Rank took Cotto-Mayorga to SHO as well.

Top Rank got what they wanted out of it...SHO went out and promoted the fight...they did Fight camp 360, they had CBS involved in promoting the fight during March Madness...and it did 1.2 million buys.

Ross Greenburg was then out at HBO.

Then Top Rank went back to HBO with a stronger bargaining position...and what did HBO do? They used their other channels like CNN and TBS to promote Pac's next fight.

He got what he wanted by screwing over his friend who happens to be the CEO of CBS. SHO did right by them and they only used SHO as a bargaining chip.

Versus tried to get into boxing and signed a contract with Top Rank, they were paying 200k for quality fights and Arum gave them Tye Fields mismatches and a bunch of other garbage that nobody remembers because it was so horrible. After their deal Versus got out of the boxing business because they were bamboozled by Arum just trying to make the quick buck.

He then got in bed with the Venetian talking about Pacquaio will never fight in Vegas again. After the Pacquiao Macao experiment failed he comes back to the MGM and basically tells the MGM they don't know how to run a business, he praises their competitors and does all this while the world press is watching.

King used to be the same way because he could, he had Tyson and the heavyweight division on lock down. After King lost his control the powers that be sent him to Palookaville, Arum is following that blueprint well.

What does it matter to Arum anyways, he might not be around much longer. Who cares if his company becomes another DKP.

                  People after him?

Most of their non-Pacquiao events didn't seem destined for MGM regardless.

Marquez-Alvarado is at the LA Forum.

                  Martnez-Cotto is at MSG.

Donaire-Vetyeka is at the Venetian in Macau.

JCC Jr.-Golovkin (if it happens, and if JCC Jr. re-ups with Top Rank) will likely be at the LA Forum (which Top Rank reportedly intends to put a number of their upcoming fights at).

And supposedly this might be a reason:

Interesting to note that by running Inglewood, they avoid the 5% Los Angeles city entertainment tax that***8217;s added to the 5% gate cut that the California State Athletic Commission gets with the TV tax money and the double-digit state income tax rate. The 5% LA city tax has been a bone of contention for Top Rank in attracting financial backers for past fights.

If Pacquiao does fight in Las Vegas, they can put it at the Thomas and Mack.

If not, they'll find another venue.

SHO had been DEAD in the pay per view department.

Pacquiao revived it...and by going that route, Top Rank got both HBO and SHO to promote their pay per views differently.

It worked out for both parties.

Top Rank didn't owe them any more Pacquiao fights after that.

Both HBO and SHO submitted proposals for the next fight...and they chose to go with HBO.

As for the Versus deal...absolutely, they had some awful fights on there.

                    • Arum has already become irrelevant he just does not know it yet. He is indeed heading down the same path as King. His palpable sense of self entitlement not wthstanding stick a fork ih em cause he is done. It prolly started when he couldn't make the Floyd Pac fight....and then would not get out of the way.
