What is Russell's best win? I watched his last fight but it was against a low quality opponent.

Nah, let him fight. If he's as good as we think he is, he'll come back. A loss or two is nothing.

            Did not know that.
That's an interesting rule to know. Even though Gary Russell has the higher ranking he is going to make less because he's fighting in his home country.

Eh...I think people who watched the Olympics remember his name, plus guys like Provodnikov, Golovkin, Kovalev have shown Eastern Europeans can make names for themselves.

Plus, people know of Russell Jr...so a win over him would put Lomachenko on the map.

Dmitry Pirog got a lot of buzz from taking out Daniel Jacobs...he just failed to capitalize on it.

Lomachenko has the connections in place to capitalize on it...if he wins, which I'm not convined he will do.

But, the fans would come if he beat Russell Jr.

I seriously hope Lomachenko stomps Russell Jr. These are two prospects with the most opposite mentalities in the sport. One is rushing to build his name, while the other has been doing squat for several years.

I think we as fans put too much emphasis on losses. I don't want to see Lomo fight 17 cab drivers to justify a title shot. That's basically what Russell did. Think about it.....

Aside from ideological reservations, there isn't actually a logical, definitive reason why Loma isn't ready or shouldn't take such a fight. He proved a lot fighting and narrowly losing v a highly experienced, tough veteran world champ who was nearly 2 weight classes heavier on fight night and used a multitude of dirty tricks. Really - what has Russell done to deserve it more than Loma? Why fight 20 cab drivers/TBAs and not really prove anything when you can be confident in yourself and take immediate challenges which place you as either a legit challenger at top level, or just a 'possible' prospect.

A fight like this is good, because it pits two top prospects, both having question marks (although different ones) above them...we fans always want the best or possible best to fight each other, so I don't think we can have double standards and complain that these guys might not deserve it. I'm sure if we forget about if they do or not, this is a fight people want to see, or would certainly prefer over either guy fighting some bum to boost their resume.

However, I do understand why this perhaps shouldn't be for a title...but then again, I don't see many other top guys who deserve a shot or are potential superstars, so since it's vacant, let these guys have at it.

Rigo has something to do with how things went. If there was no Rigo under Arums stable understand Lomachenko would have been fighting for a title much later
