Hatton received a big boost this week, as legendary trainer Emanuel Steward is backing him to pull off a shock victory over Sydney-based Russian fighter Tszyu.

Steward, head of the Kronk gym in Detroit, has guided fighters such as Thomas Hearns, Lennox Lewis, Oscar de la Hoya, Evander Holyfield, Julio Cesar Chavez and Leon Spinks to greatness.

And he bucks the trend by backing Hatton to beat his older rival.

Steward watched Hatton train at the Phoenix gym in Salford, when he brought the original "Hitman", Hearns, to fight at the Arena in 1999, and now says:

"I'm going with Hatton. I like his activity level. And Hatton is the bigger man. His style can give Tszyu problems.

"It's the right time for Ricky. He's tired of being protected."

You only use tszyu as a back up. Did you see the way hatton fought against him?

Torres hits hard you seen his record? padded or not he hits hard.. watch him get big in the US

dont come with that overweight **** as an excuse...

the only person that is acceptable on hattons resume is tszyu... **** phillips he beat tszyu awhile ago.. that only mad tszyu stronger.. besides hatton beat a tszyu that came out of a long lay off not a fresh tszyu so dont get all hype with hatton just because he fought tszyu that took a long layoff

This thread was about Castillo and Hatton about which fighter is better and then you mention Cotto which now proves that you are a loser that hugs hattons sweaty balls lol

Listen hatton is all hype. He fought Kostya tszyu from when he returned from a long layoff so stop using that victory as his only one have any other ones?? Legit victorys? which known fighters?

Case in point: Cotto fights a bunch of his 'amateur' nemesis' who he outweights every single time by about 15 pounds.

He fights his amateur rivals who once beat him! and yet come back with KO victorys on all of them!

Oh well he makes the weight at the weight-in right?

Cotto is a better, more accomplished fighter than Hatton.
