as i remember the fight ishe lara was announced after the fight. But in any case i dont see why canela can not do the fight in august and allow some more time. As far as i remember canelo answer he will not fight lara and now he is in a hurry. The canelo proposition is only giving him two months or yoy cant understand this article

I dont see usually fighters doing fights withing two months and they only sign another fight in a short time only after the previous one and be sure he is ready for the next one. But this canela movement is a dirty one propper of a trash coward person who doent know about fair play and good faith. I only hope lara wins him and clean this sport of this trash

in a hurry tobmake the offer while he lost the time without making the offer. Why he didnt accept the fight when lara came to him two months ago?. Now everything is against lara fighting with only two months between fights

Floyd Mayweather announced Lara vs. Smith during his press conference to announce his fight with Maidana. That was on March 8th around noon, which was BEFORE Lara called out Canelo at Canelo's post fight press conference. Canelo's dates for the year have always been 3/8, 7/26, and 11/22. Obviously they moved the 7/26 date to 7/12 so it could come before Chavez Jr. vs. Golovkin on 7/19. So when Lara called out Canelo face to face he knew that a potential fight with Canelo would be on July 26th, which is only 2 weeks after the new date of 7/12. And the new date isn't because they want to give Lara less time, it's because they want to come before Chavez Jr. vs. Golovkin on 7/19. Do you understand?

"Now he wants to fight Lara and my hat goes off to Canelo, for wanting to take on a guy who is no question one of the most dangerous 154-pounders with a deep amateur background as well. We are in the final stages of hopefully negotiating that fight and hopefully it will get done."

Schaefer is currently in talks with Lara's team. The Cuban boxer is scheduled to defend his title against former IBF champion Ishe Smith on May 2nd at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

Schaefer and Canelo are taking no chances. In 2012, when Canelo's first pay-per-view was planned - they had several potential opponents fall through. One of them, Victor Ortiz, was knocked off when his jaw was broken by Josesito Lopez - in a fight where Ortiz was a heavy favorite to win.

This time around, if the two sides are able to reach a deal, it is highly likely that Lara will be pulled from the May fight with Smith to avoid the possibility of injury.

"Obviously, as part of the negotiations we would have to evaluate if he is going to be staying in that fight or not. That is all part of the ongoing negotiations," Schaefer said.

It's all being negotiated. It's obvious that if Lara takes the fight, which he will, there will be some sort of buyout for him to walk away from the Ishe Smith bout. And Lara will happily walk away from that fight to go against Canelo.
