Difference is Canelo was already making millions before mayweather. It's not as if he was making pennies and was in desperate need of a Mayweather fight.

He could have said, not yet, I'm not ready, I'll get him next time. Isn't that what Danny Garcia did?

He got the offer now he can either take it or leave it. His choice. If not Canelo can move on to another opponent.

You on the other hand are going to bitc* to no end. Because that is what you cubans do. Complain, complain, I'm not getting enough money, I don't want to fight on undercards, I can't fight who I want. Complain complain instead of just getting in the ring.
lara had no signed the fight yet when he went to ask for a fight with canela. He didit when canelo said no because he wanted the fight with cotto martinez winner. This guy is s dirty one using every detail in his favor. I just hope ishe fight be easy and see how canela cinderella will make pee in his panties jaja

Lara-Canelo would be a very big fight. I can't see Lara fighting two month before. He will have to "injure" himself out of the Smith fight and "heal" in time for the Canelo one.

This looks like the best fight lined up this year.

Editor's Note - Interview conducted prior to Canelo-Angulo result. Luis Sandoval catches up with WBA 'regular' junior middleweight champion Erislandy Lara to discuss his upcoming fight with former champ Ishe Smith on May 2nd in Las Vegas, his thoughts of Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Marcos Maidana and more.

No pendejo. Lara already knew he was fighting Smith before the conclusion of the Canelo/Angulo fight. Meaning that when Lara called out Canelo in the press conference, Lara knew that if he got his opportunity at Canelo it would be this summer after his fight with Smith.

Canelo has now made it clear that an offer has been sent to Lara. The guy you've been on here complaining about not getting a chance to show how great he is. Well here is his chance. He can either take it or leave it.

Either way I don't expect you to ever give Canelo credit for what he does. Lara could have 5 months to prepare and you'd be here complaining that it is too long of a rest for Lara and that Canelo was taking advantage of him.

          You're a freaking tool

            I told them this.
But these Canelo haters look for any excuse to discredit Canelo.

Bout damn time. Let's make this happen!

And 10 weeks should be enough time. Besides, he's facing Ishe Smith for crying out loud. This should be a tuneup fight.

It's like this generation of kids get more excited about saying someone is ducking than actual wins

as i remember the fight ishe lara was announced after the fight. But in any case i dont see why canela can not do the fight in august and allow some more time. As far as i remember canelo answer he will not fight lara and now he is in a hurry. The canelo proposition is only giving him two months or yoy cant understand this article

Im pretty sure Canelo's PPV dates were set by Showtime a long time ago. I'm not certain but I don't think there's ever many PPVs in August. In fact, from my memory that's a quiet month in general for boxing.
