Showtime Sports' executive vice president and general manager Stephen Espinoza said the deal is for the Fonfara fight, but added, "There is a structure which allows us to continue for multiple fights beyond that."
Could it be Stevenson vs Kovalev in the fall after all?

There's also another article that said that Showtime would have matching rights for Stevenson's fight after Fonfara. So if HBO makes a bid, Showtime is allowed to match it and keep him in Showtime. (I can't remember the source) -
Been saying this exact thing since the beginning. Got hated on for it and even added to Battling's little list.
BTW hopkins is number 1 LHW so if stevenson fights him instead it is not a duck in my book. If hopkins wins next fight hell have 2 belts, be a 1st ballot HOF, a legend, and a much much much more impressive name on resume. Kov will be Kov
If he's willing to put that fight up for bid and got a lot of money, why wouldn't he do the same for a bigger fight with both sides offering more money....especially with HBO willing to actually start bidding this time?Comment

You deserve to be on the list though. There was not 'its still ok if he fights Kovalev in the fall'.Been saying this exact thing since the beginning. Got hated on for it and even added to Battling's little list.

And please stop with that Hopkins gobbledeegoop. Its no way near the matchup Kovalev presents.Comment

So its still possible that Haymons plan involves Kovalev. If HBO, who has deeper pockets than Showtime, can give a better offer for a Kovalev fight than Showtime can for Kovalev or Hopkins/Shumenov, he has maximized Supertramps earnings.http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/boxing...1235--box.html

But if that's not the plan, then there's no defense left for the SDF (Stevenson Defense Force).Comment

Yes there was and yes i said it many times but since for you its Kov or nothing i can see why you would keep me on list.
Youre right all Hopkins accomplishments and belts and HOF credentials mean nothing when faced with a puncher. Shame you actuallybelieve thatComment

A Hopkins fight will have no way near the exitement that Stevenson-Kovalev presents.Comment

When he signed, it was only for that fight. So its still possible that Haymons plan involves Kovalev. If HBO, who has deeper pockets than Showtime, can give a better offer for a Kovalev fight than Showtime can for Kovalev or Hopkins/Shumenov, he has maximized Supertramps earnings.

Showtime and GBP said they want to work in a multi-deal.
It doesn't look good if he signs a multi-deal without going to bidding because this is the bid that matters.
Last bid was moot because HBO didn't give a crap about a fight that was a waste of money.Comment

Yeah, gotta agree with this... Adonis has been calling out froch and Hopkins for awhile now.. If Hopkins loses and froch gets beat by groves in the rematch, I can see Adonis maybe fighting kovolev, but honestly we will probably see a Dawson rematch before that since chad is with haymon now.Comment
