Could it be Stevenson vs Kovalev in the fall after all?

If this is really just a ploy then damn they've done good.

Maybe things will go like this:

Stevenson will have one fight only on Showtime as he only signed for one. After Fonfara he is a free agent. Enter Kovalev and HBO!

If so this is masterclass. All this trash talk between them and the Showtime-HBO dispute that has gotten so much ink. The fans are hungrer than ever before for this fight. It would be a massive success that their talent level frankly is not worth.

If it ends like this, then my hat goes off to those who orchestrated this chain of events. If it's Haymon then his legend is growing fast.

If it doesn't go like this then why this continued smack from Supertramp in particular?

I think the only way it can happen is if Hopkins loses to Shumenov. Otherwise it's not even worth discussing.

I think if Floyd vs Pac has told us anything, it's that what you see is what you get. The "Ploy" theory doesn't work.

This is assumed he doesn't sign a multi-deal.

He shouldn't since he wanted to do the bidding in the first place

From what I've been told, Showtime now holds the rights to Stevenson's next fight after Fonfara. So there's no chance of Stevenson/Kovalev.

Stevenson is talking trash because he's a b*tch and that's what b*tches do.

Well if he did do that, looks like this move was more than business and he really didn't want to fight Kovalev.

If it was a ploy there would be no reason for HBO not to showcase Stevenson's next fight on their network. Nor would there be any reason for Showtime to pay Stevenson for his next fight when he's only going to swan off to their rivals after it.

Stevenson's manager has already admitted they'll be going for Hopkins anyway.

I'm sure it was reported as being one fight only?

The thing is that Haymon only wanted to deal for the Fonfara fight which is why HBO didn't want to throw more money his way.

I made a thread asking basically this same question, why can't Stevenson just go back to HBO, and someone provided a link stating that Showtime now holds first rights going forward, and HBO would have to make an offer they won't match, match the same way Showtime did for Fonfara.

I also find it hard to believe Stevenson wants to fight Kovalev when a deal is in place, he ran to Haymon, and the deal collapsed.
