Why do fighters with power get hyped up without proving themselves?

And Kovalev is not hype. He's the hardest hitter in Boxing. His power is amazing to witness. And he has a champions attitude and outlook. I love Kovalev win, lose or draw.
And I also wish GGG and Lomachenko the best. In the next 2-3 years Loma will be fighting Rigondeaux and GGG will have multiple belts.

And I think Abrahams fights with Miranda proved he's the real deal.

Larry, so you are saying that we should stick to hyping up Floyd's hyped up fighters (opponents)? What's you angle here?

Don't you mean when elite fighters make other champions move down like Foyd and Ward did to Canelo and Dawson.
Knockouts sell tickets my man, that's why they get the hype. Nobody is hyping a guy like Terrance Crawford who's a good young fighter because he is not crushing people in 3-4 rounds. I'm sure you mentioned the guys you did because they are white anyways. If Quillen or Porter where sparking people out they would be all hyped up as well but then we wouldn't see this post would we.

            Obviously it's because they're white.

At least Kovalev is willing to fight anyone. At least Lomachenko stepped in with champions in his first two fights. At least they have heart and they're not insecure like Mayweather, Ward and Adonis.

This didn't happen. His opponent was the one punched deaf and pissing blood. Matthysse lost a close fight on points while fighting partially blind and being hit low.

Anyway, more people like these guys because (a) they're exciting and (b) they're willing to fight anyone.

Boxing fans don't like cherrypicking and ducking, and fight fans don't like running and clinching.

                    It's simple really.

Power is the great equalizer. A fighter could be getting outboxed for the majority of the fight, but the fight will still capture the imagination of all those watching it if they know that at any moment the fight could end with one massive blow.

For most people Power is everything. If you hit hard enough to end fights on 1 shot you're never truly out of a fight. It keeps things intriguing.

Mayweather doesn't have that kind of power, so if hypothetically speaking he's ever behind big on the scorecards everyone knows there's no chance of a dramatic comeback.
