Hey Larry, you forgot to add Deontay Wilder to your list. He's gotten a lot of hype, he's got a cannon right hand but has been matched very carefully. So you can edit your original post to add him in.

For a while it wasn't, but lately I've gotten away with it. I think I better tone it down a bit.

When a power puncher fights great fighter that's great. When a power puncher fights bad fighters you still get to see some cool knockouts.

When a great technican fights a great fighter that's great. When a great technican fights a bad fighter then it might become a bit boring...

Who didn't like to watch Tyson destroy average fighters? Hard hitter are fun to watch.

No Wilder is ok in Larry's book, its different than GGG or Kovalev. Wilder is finally getting some credit for his skills which produce all of his kos.

excellent point..from Larry's criteria, Wilder fits that bill more than the others...talk about power and being massively overrated...why was he omitted from the list?

Within hand to hand combat power can be the equalizer against a more established and more skilled opponent.
Power punchers in this sport are rare and these days almost invisible!
When Big George entered the ring there was a real chance of seeing something explosive. That allure goes back to the days of Dempsey then Louis then Marciano to George then Tyson. The explosiveness of the big puncher is the most exciting element in boxing.
Watching a great technician work is the art of the sport but the power guy is capable of wiping the artist out with a single brush stroke!!!!

Kova is not a one punch power guy like the others mentioned but he will break down guys fairly quickly if allowed to step up and punch when his opponent goes to the ropes. From what I see GGG has more p4p power because his techniques are better than Kova's for now!

Imagine if lil Floyd had punching power????? Then add great combinations and a great chin???? Oh yeah that would be Sugar Ray Robinson!!! Ray
