Look at David Haye. A cruiserweight by today's standards, a normal sized HW in years past. Not only does this modern breed of fighter possess evolved athleticism, but shows the continued improvement in skills. A terrific workrate with precise punch selection, his technical brilliance is especially on display when he is slipping jabs and throwing combinations. He shows head movement and parrying abilities to neutralize even the best of jabbers, and combinations that would put Joe Barrow to shame. Such fluid, well placed combinations; barely visible to the naked eye due to its blinding speed, and each punch leads to the next punch in the combination. No wasted, poorly placed punches.

He should have been dominated by such an evolved beast in Nicolay Vaulev, whose size makes Ernie Terrell look like Gary Coleman, and possesses the balance and grace of Mikhail Baryshnikov (but does not act in cable shows playing a character who dates a woman who looks like the long lost daughter of Mr. Ed and John Elway)

Haye easily handled the graceful giant with a stunning display of footwork, defense, speed, power, and constant activity

The xenophobes will not appreciate the proven evolution of athleticism, ring smarts, and technical skills, put on display by the likes of Haye, Wald, Pascal, Fury, and the brilliant Khan. Nostalgia and prejudices are the reasons for the huge overrating of the past.

Thanks for the red K! It's very nice that you care.

How do you feel about the amazing advances in technical skills and teaching? How would LHWs of the past, like Spinks, Gregory, and Qawi, deal with today's brilliance? How could they compete with the mix of athleticism, skills, intelligence and punch variety of a Jean Pascal. How could they deal with a genetic alien like b-hop, a true marvel and product of the vast improvements in training and stamina?

How could a sloppy arm-punching speedster like Meldrick Taylor with someone like Khan, who possesses a wonderful marriage of speed and skills? The techniques and secrets have been passed down through generations, and we see it in the amazing balance, punch mechanics, subtle defensive manuevers and brilliant footwork whenever Khan fights. Khan has the edge in 20 years of evolution in boxing, two decades of continuing strides in skills and nutrtion

Slow plodders like Hagler and Monzon couldn't deal with the super athleticism of Sergio Martinez, who has mastered all the punches and proper defensive moves, and simply likes to toy with opponents by keeping his hands down, knowing full well the mastery of defense.

Serg also intentionally gets hit with his hands down to mentally break his opponents by showing his balboa-like chin, and to prove to the biased nostalgia old timers that he is a "real fighter". People are so stuck in the past that they assume a fighter must be ugly to be good, but Sergio has gotten bloody a couple of times just to show that along with his unparalled athleticism, complete mastery of all the technical skills, that he is more than just a handsome bicycle rider

It certainly shows that boxing hasn't evolved at all and todays fighters are inferior overall.

I'd actually like to see this but with more/all the divisions.

I mean look at the HWs outside of Wlad I don't think any of the current fighters are beating any of the 91 top 10
In fact I think the Middleweights are even weaker in comparison.
Maybe Rakhim Chakhkeiv, but fighters today are more refined and skilled and can box better.

Its that too much "cute" matchmaking has ruined it.

I think what the op is implying is that boxing has grown weaker.

The ranks used to be stacked with great fighters and now they're weak as hell lol.

Evolution takes millions of years and has never been observed
