There are only a few who can fight 15 rounds today

    nostalgia, nostalgia.

pryor needed to cheat for extra stamina.

sports have evolved. boxing has great teachings, you can see it in the wonderful subtle skills today's fighters possess. They are masterful in-fighters and body punchers. They know all the angles on the inside. Rid**** Bowe could not hang with the in-fighting HWs of today, because technology and teaching has evolved to even greater proportions than Eddie Futch!

george benton was typical of the 50s, good skills for their time, but not technically evolved like today's contenders.

chavez was a plodder, he didn't know where to place his feet like khan does so masterfully. with speed.

braxton was a prison midget. How could he hang with the evolved athletes and teachings of today? how could a gangly dork like michael spinks hang with today's ultra-athletic and skilled light-heavys? They would knock him back to the high rises of Pruitt-Igoe, along with his toothless brother.

Ok Richard you shot your Wadd now go away!!!

Or expound on the "new techniques" used today.
Tell me what trainer todays knows methods & techniques better than Mr. Blackman did?
Enlighten us on ring generalship and how Willie Pep could never keep up with the the current "will of the Wisp"?

I would love to hear the New Techniques BS list!!!'By all means send a video of the latest "moves" you talk about and the never before seen conditioning exercises you know so well.
Where did you train" Who taught you these things? Did you develop them in your basement? Is your name Disney (last) Goofy (first)?
      I'll bet it is!!!
      Ray.

Fighters are not better today, they may be bigger and have more muscle tone
because of advances in science, but they are not better fighters.
All you need to do is look at the ATG LISTS and you'll
see very few if any fighters from today on those lists!
For example look at the HEAVYWEIGHT ATG LIST and you'll see Dempsey,
        Marciano,Louis,Tunney,Ali......none from today!

This must be a joke, I'm not even going to bother attacking each one of your so called "points" but I will attack one. Many fighters of yesteryear are far superior when it comes to infighting than most fighters of today. There are always exceptions of course.

I'll even go back to the 30's, 40's and 50's and find guys who are superior skill wise when it comes to infighting. Henry Armstrong, Sugar Ray Robinson, Joe Louis, Ezzard Charles....dude I could keep going for days with Carmen Basilio, Archie Moore, Rocky Marciano. These are just some of the more well known guys but practically any fighter worth his salt back then had solid infighting skills in their repertoire. For the past 20-30 years there have been a few guys that matched the skills of a lot of these old timers. These dudes were fighting more often, longer rounds, etc. and there is no better teacher than a fight itself. So yeah, guys today usually have better physiques and are technically in better shape but they aren't in better "fight shape" which is from going into hardened battles 27 times a year like Henry Armstrong did in 1937 (insane). 15rds. There are things you learn in a fight that no amount of sparring or watching tape can teach.

Actually it is at it's worse. Fighters sit around the house eat processed food and can barely go twelve rounds. I admit it is not fair because they are alot less boxers entering the sport than there were 40 years ago but today fighters don't have to fight each other because there are multiple titles to hide behind and fighters no longer have to fight contenders to get a title. It is grossly deluted and todays fans fail to see it because they know no different.

it has gone down the shtter a bit kind of like the talent in the music industry

You guys are just too nostalgic and xenophobic to see the vast evolution in athletes and technical skills of boxing.

teaching continues to improve, as do infighting skills, subtle defensive moves, and proper footwork.

old lumbering heavyweights can only dream of possessing the athletic genius and all-around skills of a wald klitschko, or the amazing, well-conditioned and well-schooled contenders, well versed in the fine arts of infighting and stamina through their intense pace and workrate

Just look at the top 10 p4p and middleweights nowadays and the past. Keeps getting better and better.
