Seemed silly since, like Pacquiao-Cotto, it didn't have any bearing on the fight. And like Pacquiao-Cotto, it'll be an afterthought when people look at that fight.

But you guys have no problem with GG and Sergio cutting 6lbs to get 154? You guys ***** and complain about everything Floyd does.

Does it really matter?, on fight night Canelo was probably damn near 170. Canelo didnt have a problem with it, he signed the contract and earned 10-12 mil. Yall act like Floyd made him come down to 147. Get over it already

dont really have a problem about it. times change and fighters change their minds with it so you cant put to much into every word that they say.
it was still a good matchup and a quility win for floyd. the more pressing issue for him is that his other matchups are junk.

Mayweather did a catchweight fight with Canelo? Did I miss something here. Isn't Maywether the guy that doesn't do catchweight fight because it wouldn't be a fair fight.

I agree it was a ***** move by Floyd. When Canelo said that he had just moved up from welterweight and probably still could have made 147 at that time with the right camp. Should we hold Floyd to all the things he has been quoted on boxing scene over the years?
With that said though it had nothing to do with the outcome of the fight. Floyd was on a different level and should get credit for that dominating performance. The same outcome would have happened at the full 154 limit.
Canelo/Angulo was a different scenario as Angulo was given plenty of notice and he himself came in over 154 so he was not at any disadvantage. Plus they had a rehydration clause for Canelo to nuetralize any advantage he would have had. Plus it was a non title fight anyway. El Perro would have been tamed either way and there wasn't anything in that pound that would have changed that.

Because you can use Floyd's own words against him on this one and Floyd fans can't defend Floyd on it .... even though many still do.
1) "It's Canelo's managements fault for agreeing not Floyd's"
Response: Well, Canelo knew what happened to Manny Pacquiao when they didn't agree with Floyd's terms. Due to Floyd's history, they felt like they had no choice
2) "Canelo's team brought it up and you can check it out on BoxingScene"
Response:
a) Boxingscene article was from 2011 or somewhere about that time. Canelo was like 19-20 years old.
b) Again, going by Floyd's response to similar demands/requests, you can take away certain agreements that were made during negotiations whenever you feel like it so why can't Canelo's team? Why can't Floyd understand this if he does it?
Example: Floyd agreed to 14 days cutoff on testing with Manny. Soon after, Floyd came back and said "no cutoff dates"
Example 2: 50/50 split in revenue was OK then wasn't
Example 3: Floyd could negotiate a fight with Arum as Manny's promoter, now he can't.
Example 4: "Manny you are Next ... then Manny is not next"
3) "Unlike other fighters, I make my opponents come in comfortable .... I consider Cotto undefeated" - Floyd Mayweather
Finally, how can 2 fighters who both hold a belt at 154, fight at a CW?Last edited by ADP02; 03-31-2014, 01:41 PM.
