No. They'll just refuse to pay them. Al Haymon is in a great or terrible position, depending on how you look at it. Showtime doesn't have the budget to pay all of these fighters exactly what they want. Al Haymon is managing a huge amount of talent right now. If he keeps upping the asking price for his fighters, eventually Showtime will have to say no. HBO already won't work with him so where exactly are his fighters supposed to fight? ESPN? Golden Boy Live? If premium cable can't afford to pay his fighters, you know damn well ESPN can't.

At the same time, he's managing so much talent that eventually HBO is going to have to find a way to work with Golden Boy. They can't keep working with Top Rank, who's only able to keep showcasing rematch after rematch. How many more Pacquiao vs. Bradley or Bradley vs. Marquez or Marquez vs. Pacquiao fights can they make? Eventually, people are going to get tired of that *****.

I'm just wondering why Showtime didn't learn from HBO's mistakes. People like Haymon are in this business to screw networks with the promise of taking over the sport.

Well, I'm a Showtime subscriber. Fights are extremely rare. Espinoza seems to have this impression that he was hired to attract PPV buyers, not subscribers. He's too focused on making PPV,s and enrich the Greedy Team Haymon/Mayweather.

"I can't tell you that pay-per-view helps the sport because it doesn't. It hurts the sport because it narrows our audience, but it's a fact of life. Every time we try to make an HBO World Championship Boxing fight, we're up against mythical pay-per-view numbers. HBO doesn't make a lot of money from pay-per-view. There's usually a cap on what we can make. But the promoters and fighters insist on pay-per-view because that's where their greatest profits lie."

"They have a guy [Stephen Espinoza] in charge of Showtime Sports, he signed Mayweather; if you're a subscriber for Showtime, what the hell difference does it mean to you? Mayweather isn't on Showtime, he's on pay-per-view. If you have a subscription, you can't see a Mayweather fight on Showtime. It's ridiculous." - BA

No, you have to understand how finances work.

        1. Showtime looks at their budget and says, ok we can do that fight.
        2. Showtime looks at their budget and says, no, not a good financial option.

They have no requirements to comply with Al's request, just like HBO didn't

Can you give me a complete list of non-PPV fights made last year on both networks? Show me proof of that, clown. Why do you clowns keep including PPVs? They have nothing to do with subscribers.

Not only more cards, but more fights. HBO is good for 1 and 2 fight cards, while Shotime is good for 3 to 4 fight cards.

2 ppvs last year on Shotime. Seriously doubt he included that in what he was talking about.
