Have you ever actually used the Grants or are you just basing your opinion on Mayweather bias? There will obviously be a contractual issue on whether to use 8oz - 10oz gloves but I've never heard of him dictating the brand, that's just silly!

From what I've heard of the Grants gloves there a middle of the road glove in terms of power to protection ratio, the Everlast "punchers" glove as you say, is comparable to the Grant glove with maybe a slightly less padded, but they're certainly no Reyes gloves!

It's illegal to use 10 oz. gloves at 147, especially on pay-per-view! This ain't no ****ing exhibition! It's supposed to be a fight! But Maidana is getting extra money to take it easy on Floyd. Think about all the future Mayweather paydays! Maidana will get a cut of that if he plays ball.

Sort of related, but to those in the thread that actually box i personally like Rival, their gloves are great. Though i haven't had the chance to use Grant's or winning as they are too expensive to buy and ship here, and no one in oz stocks them locally as far as i know.

Really, i got a pair of Rivals recently and I didn't like them at all, I found the seems came apart very quickly.. Now I used cheaper version they cost like €45/$65 Australian, so that may be the reason... I just went back to my old pair of Everlasts!

the best fighter in the sport hurts his hands all the time, and has a sponsorship with grant. he probably makes more with that sponsorship than most journeymen.


if guys want leverage to get their gloves used in a mayweather fight, they should beat him. they can get a sponsorship with their own gloves, and wear reyes or MX everlast in vegas. that's how this game works. it's not perfect, but that's how it works.

grant are not a puncher's glove. they are extremely well formed and padded, especially at the knuckle. the leather is pretty stiff. ask anybody who knows what he's talking about and has actually put them on his hands and worked out.

That might have been true in the past, but grant does in fact offer a punchers now as well. There was a big stink over the Grant gloves Golovkin was using against Stevens. Stevens camp couldn't believe the Grants were smaller than his Reyes punchers glove.

Either way. I don't think Mayweather will have a problem with Maidana wearing whatever he wants. He had no issue with Cotto wearing Everlast MX gloves.

I believe 147 is the cut off to choose either 8 or 10 oz gloves.
