He wanted Stevenson and stevenson declined, at which point he signed to fight Agnew.

Again why did stevenson choose Fonfara if its about maximizing the money?

Hbo had right of first refusal and didn't choose to match because Stevenson hired al haymon. If you blame only Stevenson, fine with me.

wow im really surprise to see such people exist

          cough....Raheem....Pacman.....cough.....

I'm not sure what to make of this Stevenson thing yet. Waiting til we hear a bit more from both sides. That is the problem on here. People are so quick to jump all over one side or the other, that the same posters always end up looking like idiots thread after thread.

That's not true. Hbo planned to have them fight on same card or a week or so apart to setup big fight later. Stevenson signed with haymon, herschman refuses to work with haymon, so they didn't match.

Now if you feel Stevenson shouldn't have signed with haymon, just say it.

Him declining Kovalev predates Al Haymon, but nice try.

You're all about the money, yet the same guy months ago turned down a more lucrative offer to face Kovalev. How can you support turning down a more lucrative fight, since you understand the "business of boxing". Does stevenson hate money?

No. It's called having your head screwed on.

I don't "care" what a fighter makes but you need to understand that a fighter isn't going to take less money for a fight when there's more money in another fight just because some dweebs on a message board say so.

                It's not hard to understand.

No, lets not backtrack. Stevenson clearly turned him down and HBO agreed to give him an intern fight as long as he faced Kovalev next, so they gave it to him. All of that came after, HBO wanted Stevenson-Kovalev, as did everyone else......well not everybody

Now you said you understand the business of boxing, so explain why stevenson would turn down a more lucrative fight with Kovalev to fight Fonfara? This predates and doesnt involve Haymon

A fair point. But most fans love the sport also. You cant deny that Berto making millions to fight BS fights on HBO in the long run will kill the sport. So in the future fighters wont even have the opportunity to maximize their profits. There is a trade off. And most all time greats will tell you the money fades away but the glory is the last thing to go.

If your level of intelligence is so low that this is how you respond we can end the discussion.

I didn't say anything about tough fights not happening. I said fighters should maximise their earnings. If you don't care about that cool.

Networks can easily afford to pay fighters more. They can afford to insure them. They choose not to. Don't get mad when a fighters team puts their best interests first.
