GBP and Haymon fighters will have to once a year from now on lol. HBO Sports hired the Ken Hershman who was running Showtime Boxing ...Showtime boxing was a disaster under Hershamna. As soon as Hershman left Showtime for HBO, Showtime has been the better network by far. I think the question is...why would HBO hire Ken Hershman
"Hershman dropped a bomb when he announced HBO would discontinue doing Golden Boy fights for the time being." Seems like an egotistical idiot who knows nothing about boxing and goes by ratings, which doesn't account for the fact that HBO has more subscribers. Subscribers will watch boxing when they already pay for the network. I don't see how HBO boxing has done anything in 2013 to increase the number of subscribers. HBO needs to get rid of Hershman and his unwarranted oversized ego..and work things out with Golden Boy and vice versa.Comment

I take back what I said above. I wrote it before reading the article. It is obvious now that Stevenson f.......ked up this chance to appear on HBO. I guess he thinks that, since he won the Fighter of the Year award in 2013, he is on Mayweather's level in terms of negotiating power. I don't think he has any plans to face Kovalev unless he loses to Hopkins or gets KO'd by Froch first. If either of those things happen, he will suddenly find himself fighting on Friday Night Fights and will be begging HBO for a shot at Kovalev.Comment

It would work. If HBO and Showtime said we will not pay you hundreds of thousand of $ to fight fights that the fans are not clamoring for - what option does than leave them - PPV? Im a huge boxing fan and Im not paying for Stevenson vs Fonfara on PPV - thats for sure. If the networks played ahrdball - with thses fights - like the recently announced Thurman v. Julio Diaz - another haymon piece of garbage fight, or Broner v. Carlos Molina (the lightwt one) then fighters and their advisors would be forced to make the best fights available, instead of making fights for good money against opponents that pose very little threatThats like Coke and Pepsi getting together and saying to McDonalds, "Hey either sell both of us at your restaurants or neither of us are going to be available at McDonalds." Doesn't make sense. Competition doesn't work together.
HBO + Showtime= Audi + BMW
- Don't work together.Comment
