I disagree with Fat Dan and change my stance from yesterday.

Yesterday I agreed with people saying "Show is giving him more money, HBO needs to pay up". But this article tells me that's not the case.

He will get more money for Fonfara but its uncertain who will pay more for Kovalev. To me it looks like a duck depending on what amount he asked for to fight Kovalev.

It figures, that Stevenson would scamper off to Haymon and Showtime. After Kovalev's rant recently it probably terrified Stevenson, and got him thinking: "No way am I going to get in the ring with that frigging monster, I'll go abuse some cab drivers over at Showtime, it is safer".

However, Stevenson’s camp approached the network to ask for a rumored significant increase, without the assurance that his next fight would in fact be against Kovalev, should both fighters win their upcoming bouts.

Screw Al Haymon and all Al Haymon fighters.

When I made this thread, I thought the matching rights thing was for the two fight deal, not just the fanfora fight. So yeah, reading this, it's clearly a duck now.

Very powerful move by Showtime. Hopkins-Stevenson will be a blockbuster. Hopkins should get knocked out, but will most likely outbox Stevenson after weathering some trouble. What a way to cap (or continue) a career for Hopkins.

What if both HBO and Showtime stood up to Top Rank/GBP/Al haymon and said we not going to have your fighter on our network unless they fight this fighter. Would that work?

By all accounts, HBO had 2-fight deal agreed to w/ Stevenson/Yvon Michel. HBO***39;s screw up was not getting it signed in Jan when they agreed.

By letting the deal sit for close to 2 months, it gave haymon time to sign Stevenson and then go to Showtime for more $.

I thought they signed a deal with adonis where they had to at least match or pass an offer from someone else
