Comments Thread For: Sergio Martinez Admits Pressure To Retire After Cotto

WBC middleweight champion Sergio "Maravilla" Martínez (51-2-2, 28KOs) is looking closer at retirement, from the rough and tumble, wear and tear of boxing. Martinez defends his belt against Miguel Cotto (38-4, 31KOs).

And that's precisely why his family is asking him to soon call it a day.

Possible warning signs that he's starting to underperform in training & sparring.

He has already fought the consensus #1 and #2 (Pavlik and Williams) at MW once, he has nothing to prove to anyone. He doesn't owe GGG or anyone a fight.

If he keeps fighting after beating Cotto and doesn't face his best challengers (including GGG), that will be a problem. But if he wants to retire, good for him.

Miguel has a very good chance of letting you retire, after he outboxes and defeats you to get his 39th win.

Seems like Martinez's body is having trouble coping with the rigours of a training camp.
