Damn, Sergio is going to pull a Mayweather and retire to duck a fighter (Triple G).

Reading something like this, I can't help but think avoiding a GGG fight has a lot to do with him saying it.

In Sergio's defence tho, he is NOT at the age and health to give a young strong GGG his BEST and if you cannot give a beast like that the best of you, it IS best to not fight him. Not everyone can be Mayweather and school fighters 10 - 15 years younger than him. Give Sergio some credit for doing this well and if he retires, I wish him the best and wont call it a duck job because Martinez deserves much more respect than that!

The fact that he said he knows when to walk away and now he's contemplating retirement further confirms my su****ion about his injuries. The guy has not fully recovered and never will. Look for a gimpy Martinez in the ring and a W for Cotto.

Ah how sweet, another addition to the already long litany of excuses to discredit a Cotto win…

The Sergio vs Chavez jr? Shows the boxing knowledge.

Anyway Sergio is what? 40 ish now? Dudes been fighting top fighters outside his weight range and accumulating punishment for years by very big men. He should retire after this... My only worry is that if he absolutely crushes Cotto and thinks he can continue to do this because he feels he looked good...

I can't call it a duck of GGG because he's fought significantly more proven and better fighters (GGG COULD turn out to be great but for now he's fighting slightly better comp that Gary russell )

Of course it's not a "duck". Martinez paid his dues to the sport...

It's a duck because there's money to be made, fans to be happy and glory to be obtained. As much as I respect Sergio, he's done very little since he got that title. GGG deserves his shot.

Yet in your eyes triple G can get away fighting taxi cabs drivers moving up from. Jr. Middleweight ya ok makes sense in your own world. Martinez doesn't need triple G on the other triple G does.
