Technically Floyd fought a champion, because Canelo did beat Trout (even if you don't think so, technically on the scorecards he did). So Canelo in essence EARNED the belt (even though Trout being champion at that time was kinda fraudulent too).

Whereas with Lara, he did not beat anyone who had the belt to become champion. They just 'made' him champion. Thats a paper champion, but it's not his fault, he's not to blame for that joke happening.

You're right. The same way Canelo earned his WBC.

And FYI Lara deserves to have the belt (the WBA) more than Canelo when he had it.

At the time Trout was champion in the division and had just defeated an elite fighter in Miguel Cotto. At that point, he had accomplished much more as a fighter than Lara. Many people, including Golden Boy, didn't really want Canelo to fight Trout. If Canelo picked Lara at that time, instead of Trout, that would have been a 'cherrypick', because Lara did NOT accomplish what Trout had accomplished and wasn't champion either.

You criticize Canelo for wanting to fight Cotto, but on the ESPN deportes interview Lara gave, in it he [Lara} mentions wanting to fight Cotto.

So it's OK for Lara to want to fight Cotto but not OK for Canelo to do it?

jjrood. You again in another mistake. Lara came to ask cabelo for a fight and he ducked saying he has to wait. Lara doent have too many options, so now he is fighting a bum because he has no opponent. Is the time the best fight the best, and with mayweather ezception canelo is one of the best in the division is not fighting the best. Cotto is good but his best time has gone in comparison with canelo. Canelo is ducking lara for a long time and he has to start thinking now to leave his golden boy cage and start doing good fightd again. Mayweather fight is an exception because is an honor to loose with him

so he actually fought trout coming off a loss for that title, that is as bad as canelo fighting hatton for the wbc title... they but deserved title shots but not with those opponents...
