I agree that GGG isnt there. But it would be a really good fight. I think it would bring in a lot of cash too. Esp with the WBA on the line. I say do it. This is the most attractive fight. Definitely more so than GGG and a slow super middleweight.

        that "loss" was highly controversial.

if you remember correctly Paul Williams was supposed to fight Kelly Pavlik. Pavlik pulled out of that fight and Sergio Martinez took the Williams fight on short notice and had to move up to 160 for the 1st time.

it's funny how EVERYBODY forgets that nobody would fight Williams. people think GGG is feared today but virtually nobody wanted to fight Williams at 147,154 or even 160.

Pavlik deemed Martinez worthy because he didn't want to face Williams and that's why that fight happened. you have to remember too that Arum Pavlik's promoter doesn't like working with Al Haymon who was Williams "manager" at the time.

HBO is giving GGG a huge push, Martinez didn't have that, he had to take whatever was available.

Personally I believe that GGG has much to prove and I also happen to believe that Sergio is highly overrated. But also agree with Sergio because he is right simply because GGG isn't a domestic level British middleweight.

yes he's not yet on your level but you can't use that as an excuse not to fight him.

when was the last time martinez fought someone on his level? paul williams?

SERGIO beat better fighters obviously, anyway Macklin has been a common opponent and GGG did better for what it means;it's not GGG fault that STURM,N'JIKAM(fought QUILLIN instead GGG) and MURRAY didn't want to fight him;it's not his fault DANIEL GEALE vacated WBA belt to not fight GGG.SERGIO is still the best IMO but this fight is a must watch fight if it happen.

I want to see how good is Sergio vs Cotto before I give my opinion. Against Murray he left a poor impression, and I believe is best years are long gone.

To defeat GGG he must be in top condition, if he is capable of that and he recovers totally from his injuries I think he can beat him.

I agree he's still not at Sergio's level. But that won't stop him from beating Sergio to a pulp and taking him out in the later rounds.

Sergio will retire before fighting him. And that's fine he's had a great career.

It's not until they step up vs other top fighters with experience under the big lights and big fights that we find out who they REALLY are.

Martinez has been there with the guys he's fought at their respective points in their careers. Golovkin hasn't just yet. But he looks good so far vs his competition.
Martinez and GGG both fought Macklin. I know that triangle theory doesn't work, but I don't completely agree with your argument that GGG "looks like a skilled fighter" only because he is "fighting a particular level" of competition. Martinez didn't look that good in the Macklin fight but GGG did.
