  • I do wish Ward would stop suing his promoter every chance he gets. Does he want to fight or not?

    • Yea, no one wants to fight Ward, that aint news. No one can beat Ward, so no one will fight him. Old news.

But GGG would slaughter Martinez. This isn't Kelly Pavlik Martinez, and even at his prime, Martinez's poor technique will always be a huge liability against someone like GGG.

      • Based on what victory would Golovkin slaughter Martinez? This isn't Curtis Stevens or Nobuhiro Ishida. Golovkin has never fought anybody on Martinez's level. That's why it is an interesting fight.

It's not until they step up vs other top fighters with experience under the big lights and big fights that we find out who they REALLY are.

Martinez has been there with the guys he's fought at their respective points in their careers. Golovkin hasn't just yet. But he looks good so far vs his competition.
Well, thats not what Martinez's 'good friend' Matthew Macklin seemed to think after their fight. Stevens was supposed to be a big puncher but those shots just bounced off. Adama also went the distance with Geale and Golovkin easily destroyed him early.

But none of these things mean anything, hes 'not on Martinez's level' until he knocks him out. What a load of crap, just because they haven't fought doesn't mean hes not on the same level. He could be on a higher level but he just hasn't proven it yet.

Why else does this sport exist.

          • Is that why he is fighting Cotto? How does Cotto prepare you for GGG? Murray is a game fighter so I give Sergio credit for pulling out the win even though it was a close fight. If his legs are back he can be tough prey for Gennady but anyone saying GGG hasn't shown the potential to be p4p worthy is smoking rocks and obviously is wishing for him to lose.

The real joke is the short midget that got knocked out in the 6th round against a smaller fighter (when he was rated #2 pound for pound). Now he is not rated no higher than 11 or 12!

His dumb azz fans and especially you (BOY) are bigger jokes than that little clown azz midget. Catchweight queen lost to a smaller guy by knockout, lost to another smaller guy (Bradley) by decision. Just beat another smaller guy (Rios) by decision and couldn't knock him down much less out.

So keep dreaming (jbpanama-Joke Biotch Panama) Boy!!!

I honestly doubt this now... I think al haymons fighters don't fight on HBO Idk if Lara is signed to haymon but I do think the drift between odl and **** is real... We'll be seeing gbp fighters on HBO sooner or later... Haymon may be the money maker now... But if Oscar gets his fighters to make money on HBO and show time again how much success will sick and haymon have then?

Sergio Martinez can beat anyone no matter how injured he is.

                  • Golovkin, as a fighter, is doing what he needs to do, KO people and create some buzz.

His resume is what it is; nothing special, but he's KO'ed almost everybody he's faced.

                    Let's be realistic regarding Sergio though;

At 37 years of age he fought Chavez jr , sustained a knee injury and had a long lay off (almost 1 year), then came back and fought Murray in Argentina. He not only looked bad but got injuried again.

Now, what manager in the world would suggest a 39 years old fighter in the above mentioned situation to not fight a smaller guy for more money?.
Expecting a 39 y.o. Martinez to come back after a series of injuries and refuse a Cotto fight just because GGG deserves his shot (without even being the mandatory) is naive at best.

If we were talking about two guys in their prime, without injuries, I'd understand the critics, but saying that Martinez is "ducking" is far fetched at this stage.
We can talk about about 'ducking' when and if Martinez beats Cotto and goes on to fight somebody else for less money and prestige.
