The fight would take place on July 12th, on HBO Pay-Per-View, from the Forum in Los Angeles, according to Chavez's promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank. Given Chavez's struggles with making weight, the fight match would require that Golovkin move up to the super middleweight limit of 168-pounds.

If Ward was fighting Chavez Jr you would have praised him. Shut your pie hole, and get your head out of Floyds Cherry.

      Deal with It!

Surprised Arum isn't trying to block this fight too... Remember how many years he kept Chavez Jr away from Martinez? lol

GGG going to **** this pos up.

Good fight, no matter what others say. Why wait around at 160, where no one wants to fight you. At least test 168. I know a lot of fan boys want Ward to move up first, but I want the best fights. Chavez, then Groves vs Froch Loser, then Ward.

It's a good fight for both Golovkin and Chavez. The weight is part of the equation, they see Golovkin as a physical type of fighter whose advantages will be diminished at a higher weight. And Chavez needs a little something to balance the equation here. We all know how their sparring went.

It wasn't that long. He fought Sergio a year after barely winning a paper belt over the weakest champ

If Golovkin can get the win against Chavez Jr. his stock rises like crazy! I just hope Golovkin will be ready by then considering he may still be grieving the death of his father and hasn't had sufficient time to prepare. He did look a bit lackluster against Stevens even though he won and also in his last fight which makes me wonder if he knew about and was worrying about his father's ailing condition. Maybe after the grieving process he can get his mind focused on boxing knowing there is nothing to worry anymore about his father and all that is left is the grieving process. Hope he can come back stronger than ever.

I like this fight if Chavez hooks up with a good trainer and trains hard it will be real competitive. Good matchup.

Don't believe the hype. Arum has no plans on making this fight happen. When was the last time he talked about serving up a fight so early like this?

Smoke screen to make Jr. look like he's looking for it.

Just go look at the sparring session with 3G tearing that as.s up like its an all you can eat buffet.

If this fight is made at 168, Jr. will probably enter the ring at around 185. Golovkin isnt that big a middleweight in the first place - so there should be a considerable size difference. Still, I think GGG will pull it off... and I hope a fight with Ward will be next.
