A loss to Chavez at a weight class above could be very damaging for his career, physically and financially.
Golovkin's team said he would fight anyone from 154 to 168 pounds. So moving up in weight shouldn't be a problem.

Plus if they want a ppv showcase for him this is the best opponent possible in terms of having a fan base while not being too dangerous.

triple G's dad passed away and he has been inactive so he probably gained a little weight 168 should work out perfect for a guy who walks around at 170-173 when hes fighting at 160

As a fan of the fighter, I'm less interested in what they say and more interested in Golovkin fighting at his best weight class.

Top Rank and HBO are cashing out with Chavez jr.

His contract is almost up and he's not looking to re-sign.

Is he really going to stop "cruiserweight" Chavez inside the distance at a weight class above? As I say, I'm skeptical.
He certainly can. He stops almost everybody he fights. Sometimes it's ten rounds, sometimes it's three, but he usually gets his man out of there.

I agree with you, though, Chavezito's size and toughness will make it a tall order.

Big difference between jumping weight to fight the champion in his respective division and jumping weight to fight an unranked fighter.

There are many PPVs. Enough is enough and I am not paying for Canelo again
Yup more then i can recall in the last 10 years...usually the ppvs start mid year and end the year with a ppv too.

As a fan of the fighter don't you want Golovkin to start getting in on that lucrative pay per view action?
