Lol as if Floyd would let that happen. Floyd has a unique ability to make even the most aggressive guys stand there and think with him. And once they start thinking they fight his fight and he picks them apart and taxes their energy and strength mentally. Even if Maidana got past that Floyd would never stay in range to let a guy get off 100 punches a round.
If he's tamed you, then he'll get in punching range and roll counter all your ****, but let's say he cant, he'll move and hop so far out of range every time you even consider throwing a combo that you'll hit nothing but air and you'll be forced to stop throwing or reach and get put on your ass. And Floyd can put you on your ass the problem is when he forces guys to think they shut down their offense but their defense gets sharper and they dont walk into as much ****.
I see a lot of good qualities in Maidana that people miss cuz they think he's a brawler. Should be a good fight

Floyd's chances of dropping, check hooking or even knocking out Maidana is laughable if not absurd. Even by his own daddy's standards Floyd Mayweather, Sr; He is not a ****er. So all this talk about Floyd's sudden omnipotent punching power more than comes as a surprise and really amazes me.

Sometimes people want to ko Floyd so badly they wont throw unless their feet are 100% planted.
Floyd usually is at a range where you don't think you will land so don't throw, or you are off balance and not in position to throw ko punches.
So maybe not 100 punches, unless you trap him on the ropes and rough him up and the ref don't don't protect him like hes the queen of england.

People here saying Mayweather will easily outbox him and in all likely hood he probably will.
But honestly what other game plan could Maidana implore other than going in there and swarming Mayweather with as many punches as he can?
I've seen bigger fighters fight Mayweather in burst (DLH) it didn't work.
I've seen fighters fight inside on him (Hatton) it didn't work.
I've seen fighters try to outbox him (Canelo, Guerrero) it didn't work.
I've seen fighters try to match him for speed (Judah, Mosley) it didn't work.
I've seen fighters try to counter him (Marquez) it didn't work.
What else is he suppose to do? I say he needs to throw caution to the wind and go for the KO, even if he's risking getting KO'd himself. That's his best game plan.
And even though I am not comparing the two fighters I point to something very interesting that trainer Nacho Beristain said about Pacquiao before his 3rd fight with Marquez.
He said the first 2 fights were difficult for Marquez against Pacquiao and he got knocked down 4 times because Pacquiao use to come in like a wild cat. Throwing wildly from different angles and therefore it caught Marquez off guard. But now that Pacquiao was more disciplined he would be easier for Marquez to time and counter. As we saw there was no knock down in fight 3 and most observers thought Marquez won that fight. (not trying to start a Pacquiao/Marquez debate)
I believe this could be the same thing with Floyd. If you come in discipline trying to game plan against Floyd you'll be unsuccessful. But if you come in untamed like a wild cat you might catch him off guard. After all it takes just one punch to change everything in boxing.Last edited by JJRod; 03-18-2014, 09:56 AM.

The key to victory for Mayweather against a volume puncher like Marcos Maidana is combination punching. That is the key. Landing single counter punches at a time against a pressure fighter is just not going to get the job done.
Floyd at some point is going to have to settle down on his punches for power and throw many of them in succession in order to gain Marcos' respect; Because I for one, just don't see Mayweather outpointing Maidana for 12 rounds by attempting to slow down the pace while boxing and avoiding exchanges without getting dropped or hurt by him.
Khan tried that same strategy and we all saw what happened to him. At some point a fight is going to break out and Mayweather is going to have let his hands go freely or risk being KO if he doesn't throw multiple punches back against this pressure volume puncher.

Maidana threw 964 against Broner so yes he already trains for and is capable of doing it, and when you think 663 then it becomes even more impressive, he may not get to throw as many vs Floyd but he will sure try and he will land some too so this fight is not as many think it will be, Maidana is like an angry wasp, also the effectiveness of his his stratergy of hit or be hit is underrated too as broner managed to throw a pathetic 400 due to the pure aggression he faced.
