Pretty much, yes. If not the champ can clinch and wrestle you for 12 rounds while you desperately cry out "Ref, this is ****ig boxing!!!" and you'll get nowhere. Even if you KD, the ref. will find some excuse to give him plenty of time to recover, get back on his feet and hugh you for the rest of the fight. So you basically have to murder him.

If Herrera got a KD i imagine the ref would look to the side of the ring, then suddenly the lights go out and then come back on with the ref and danny laying on the floor, the match would be called off with danny winning, Herrera by disqualification

What that moron doesn't understand is that the old cliche really only applies to draws. If the fight is a draw, the champ has the built-in advantage of keeping his belt. But if the opponent wins, the opponent wins. The elder Garcia is just trying to justify all this, perhaps most of all to himself.

lol No doubt. People have a tendency to back a certain idea when it suits them, not when it suits "the other guy." All I can say is, I've never advocated the old notion that you have to "beat the champ." It's really a silly idea.

The only way herrera could've "BEATEN THE CHAMP" anymore would've been to have pulled off a ring post and started beating Danny with it...Garcia's lost on the cards of public opinion. You don't see Brother Naz coming to Danny's rescue on this one..
