He was held somewhat at bay. Both Bradley and Herrera took tremendous punishment. They both also used a lot of movement, and defensive maneuvers. To top it all off, they both combined, threw an average of about 950 punches in their fights against Ruslan. These are all things I've never seen Danny do extensively.

Also, Bradley fighting toe to toe with Provo for most of the fight is a common myth. Timothy spent the vast majority of the fight fighting on the back foot.

Ruslan is definitely not unbeatable. Danny being a bigger puncher than Bradley and Herrera, gives him a chance. But if he can't hurt him he'd be in for a rough night.
Yeah. I prefer civil debates...even if it gets spirited its all good w/ me so long as a coherent point is being argued. It's fun to trade opinions.

Anyhow, u r correct about the majority of how Bradley fought that night. The point is tho, that had he not decided to begin the fight toe to toe foy honors wiuld not have been theirs most likely. It's also still very poss TB would've gotten clipped at some point. But it would've been way less interesting to see him box mostly w/ out having been separated from his senses. & ur point about the ouput is a good one. But thats wut makes the fight intriguing...bc Danny is a counterpuncher by nature. He can crack is all. He wouldnt have to nec throw 1000 punches to hold ruslan off. Id expect him to do similar work as Hererra. Jab...move...counter...smother...tie. wash, rinse, repeat. But wut also interesting is Danny has a strong beard but we know he'll get touched as well. As far as the hererra fight goes...I didn't see him as exposed. EM did the same thing in there first fight w/ timing & a stiff as jab. DG just made a slight adjustment & shut the door on him in part 2. Danny won't ever be a master boxer. But he is a good fighter & worth the hype he's built up for himself. He just ran into a crafty guy who came to compete. & had the goods to execute. We've seen guys get controversial decisions thru out history. We can all call out dozens....I just wasnt disheartened like I felt for the pac-jmm 3 fight or the Lara-p-will fight or dlh-mosley fight...I know if u follow the Money that usually explains everything. I think Danny actually has a bright future...he's a grounded kid. & Bernard is mentoring him. He'll be fine.

Herrera took a lot of punishment against Ruslan; his left eye was damn near swollen shut after the third round. Danny, in "beating" Herrera, didn't even come close to inflicting such damage. It also should be noted that many felt that Ruslan won that fight.

Bradley actually started the fight boxing. I think he decided to trade with Provo at some point in the first because that's what he always does once he gets tagged; it's a part of his nature as well as, I believe, an attempt at reclaiming any lost momentum. Maybe he was trying to keep Ruslan off of him; so he bit down and tried to gain his respect.

The interesting thing is, I actually like Danny; also, his dad is extremely entertaining. I read somewhere recently that Ruslan and his camp are actually interested in fighting DG. Apparently, Provo isn't signed to either HBO or Top Rank. This is the fight I want to see.

Oh wow. I'll have to rewatch the beginning of that fight. I only remember wut felt like TB trynaoad up on shots early. But I do kno ur right about him reacting to getting tagged by going into fight-mode. That's part of why I think he'll get clipped at some point in an ecxhange w/ manny if manny decides to truly take it back & fight that. relentless style. & I did watch that Hererra vs ruslan as well. I think that eye is going to be a problem thru out his career. Danny did cause some swelling early & actually caused a cut on it late too. But nowhere near the damage provo caused. Maybe his team also learned how to deal w/ it better as well bc they were reassuring him all night that "the eye" was ok. I found that interesting. I also didn't think Hererra looked as polished vs ruslan as he did the other night.

Far as ruslan v. Danny....we'll see if he moves up or takes on guys like him & rios or wut. Should be interesting. The landscape between the divs looks healthy.

        • The bull deserves a rematch....Swift didn't drop the ball but he fumbled it enough to get his critics/haters up and singing background for the bull Herrera.....give him another shot, if not for the belts, do it at WW

You could be right about Herrera and his team. I feel the same way about the Tim vs Pac fight.

There are many potential fights out there. I just hope boxing politics doesn't **** it up.

            • You can talk about different matchups and how certain fighters would stack up against one another all day but as is displayed by the results of this fight, sometimes it really depends on the day of the fight, the mindset of the fighter and how his training camp went. Your style will get you so far with an opponent who is expected to be tailor made for you but there's been more than a few occasions where the opponent is considered just that, an opponent, and is therefore underestimated. I don't know exactly why Garcia had so much trouble with Herrera but he was definitely off that night, or something else was up. Either he knew that it would be a "home town" decision or he had an off night. I still say the decision is inexcusable when a title is on the line. You don't get extra points because you're the champ. That's called corruption.
