Years ago in the California Youth Authority-Paso I had a Landscape instructor name Tom Ogren. He looks like a huge biker. He use to be professional Boxer decades ago. He is now an author. Anyways I was learning how to put my punches together and throw down. He would put tapes on of fights that were recorded on "the outs" he taught me how to watch Boxing. What this guy is doing and the other reacts. How this ones standing or blocking. The methods used to trick or break down the opponent. That's how I learned what to watch for and what to pay attention to. I used to slap box with this big dude. He really taught me how to keep my hands up. Tom was a good man and caught heat for it from the other guards and Superintendant. When I got out I was referred to the La Habra Boxing Club over in the OC where Maro Mero Paez and Julio Gonzalez R.I.P. trained. Anyways, that was years ago but that is when and how I became in love with the sport.

Ali shuffle, "Float like a butterfly, Sting like a bee", Thrilla in Manila. Ali was so funny and entertaining, he was a Hero, our Hero, He was superman, Can do everything and cannot go wrong. I still remember how painful it was seeing our hero defeated by his sparmate. Inspite of all these years I still cannot make myself call prizefighting as "The Sweet Science", if theres science to it, its far from being sweet, Its brutal, violent, it was fighting to be the last man standing. Until health comes first, too much sweetness overcomes the brutality and violence of the science of the sports, which originally is not even called a sport, it was a way of life.

I grew up watching Tyson, Holy, Oscar, Chavez and co. Got me into the sport and tehn at 10, when I first started boxing, I was hooked.
