Martinez's health is just one variable. Don't be too certain he'll be as healthy as he claims. Another serious question is Sergio's preparedness. He's been very inactive. Say what you will about Cotto; he's a world-class fighter. Despite "Maravilla's" perceived advantages, he'll need to be sharp (or sharp enough) for this encounter. I favor Sergio in this match-up, but the variables make this far from a foregone conclusion.

Age and injuries. Cotto never would have fought a younger, 100% Martinez. He's a little fa.got, but he's not ******.

Cotto's best win over the past 6 years is a split decision over Josh Clottey....5 years ago...that's worthy of a pat on the back, but doesn't get you the promotion.

He has not beat a legitimate champ in this time frame!

But his fan base need a hero worse than Bonnie Tyler. So his promotion team has been masterful in its fight selection. His resume over the past 5 years is for from great, but they've placed him just accross the tracks so that the average or dilusional fans believe he lives amongst all the greats. He's close enough to hang out; but doesn't quite live there.

Since the Margacheato and Pacquaio fight, Cotto's face bruises in a windstorm. The power he had as a Light Welter stayed there.

Guys like GGG, Canelo, Lara, Molina, Chavez Jr, Trout, etc, destroy him at middleweight....and if Sergio is anywhere near 100%, he does as well....so Cotto better hope he is still injured....otherewise, neither of his next two fights will end well.

Because cotto has a history of picking the easiest route/easiest opponent? Oh wait....

          1. He chose to fight Sergio ***n martinez, who has not been beat in how long?

          2. He's two weight classes Smaller.

All in all, is it any wonder why you're red?

Says the guy who thought Danny would never fight Lucas! Lol Sergio has been calling out three guys for a few yrs now. Floyd, Pacquiao and Cotto. Miguel is the only one who stepped up.

well obviously when Cotto wins you'll give him no credit. What gets Cotto the promotion is a great PPV/RATING history. Hes a true superstar. Martinez has never been the A side to a PPV.
