Being slick involves being tricky to give you openings, if a guy moves away from you but moves a yard out of range before resetting you can't trick anyone like that, although it can still be effective and certainly will mitigate the amount of damage you will take.
That's what people don't understand, it ain't all defense, it's about being tricky, deceptive. When has Lara tricked an opponent into thinking he was gonna head a certain direction, I don't even see many feints with him. Angulo, Molina all knew where to find him. Rigondeaux is deceptive, can move from any direction to another and actually gets under punches to do so. Lara ain't slick at all, already got red k for mentioning that he ain't

Yea I don't quite get why people don't get the term since it means the same thing in boxing it means in everyday life when talking about a person being slick, if a person is slick they are tricky to deal with.

That's what it comes down to, people not understand what slick is. Being slick is actually a rarity in the sport.

I mean, Lara can land multiple straight left hands down the middle and still get backed into a corner and pounded on. Pacquiao on the other hand has shown on many occasions that he can hit you with a straight left down the middle, duck under the left hook and have you completely facing the opposite direction. Lara is overrated, people can label me a hater if they want but he is.

I think he's a bit overrated as well. He's definitely top 5 at 154, but people on here act like he kills Canelo. I'm not so sure. I think that would be a very competitive fight

Yea Lara is good but people make him out to be something he is not, he still might be the best guy at 154 but he has not proven to be the man.

And to a lot of people Manny never did get enough credit for how good a counter puncher he was.

Agree with you guys, Lara may very well be the best LMW and he's more than capable of beating Canelo although I wouldn't favor him. Some of the stuff you read on here is concerning, people have no idea what they're watching.

No he's not slick, but being slick is not synonymous with being a good boxer. He clearly relies on his movement for defense. Offensively he's pretty basic it's either a jab or a straight left rarely does he throw feints or combinations.

We saw during the Angulo fight how he had no answer other than movement or covering up for the relentless pressure. Slick fighters usually have multiple looks they can throw at the opposition both offensively and defensively.

I think if he beats Canelo, similar to how Floyd did, people will still find a way to discredit him. They will then say Canelo isn't all that, and "well why doesn't he go up to 160 and fight GGG or the Cotto-Martinez winner", which he gladly would do, just a matter of if they want to accept the fight. Just like he wanted to fight Pirog but Pirog turned him down because "Lara doesn't bring anything to the table", what a hypocrite.

                      Good point
People stay trying to discredit fighters
I personally would give him credit if he beat Canelo
That's a good fight and I hope it happens
May not be the most entertaining for casuals but it would be an interesting chess match
He would beat Cotto I think but not Sergio
Pirog needs to fight someone outside of his home country. It's kinda ridiculous at this point
