The reverse would also be true, if Canelo smashes Lara

Lara is very responsible defensively. He moves well, controls the ring, good boxing IQ and the dude can punch. He doesn't have stamina issues, counters well also.

Lara would woop Canelos ass like Floyd did

We saw during the Angulo fight how he had no answer other than movement or covering up for the relentless pressure. Slick fighters usually have multiple looks they can throw at the opposition both offensively and defensively.
He's a very good counterpuncher, and has very good head movement and footwork.

I don't see where is this over-criticizing of Lara is coming from. Maybe more of his flaws have shown more than other fighters because he's obviously fighting at a higher level more frequently than others. I mean he fought Molina, Williams, Martirosyan, Angulo and Trout, at 154 from 2011-2013, that's a Carl Froch-like resume when Froch had that tough 2009-2012 run vs Pascal(December 2008), Taylor, Dirrell, Kessler, Abraham, Johnson, Ward, Bute. The Molina fight seems like ages ago but it was as recent as 2011 and then right after that tough fight he fights Williams and gets robbed, he was the underdog too. After two soft touches, he fights Vanes, Angulo, Trout back to back to back.

Of course we saw all of Carl Froch's flaws when he was fighting such high level competition with no tune ups, it's no different with any other fighter, including highly skilled Olympic fighters with 20 pro fights.

People want boxers to fight the best in their division with no rest, no tune ups, well this is what you need to get used to. Fighters are gonna have their ups and downs when they are fighting tough fights and different styles.

Hopefully Canelo vs Lara happens in July.

Probably, but not from me. Canelo is legit, he showed me that against Rhodes, Trout and Angulo. I felt he would beat Trout worse than he did, offensively, but instead he showed me his defensive game is up there. Against Angulo, I thought he would use his boxing and defense to easily outpoint Angulo, instead he destroys him offensively and with relentless attack with basic defense moves like a high guard.

If Canelo beats Lara and then Cotto/Martinez winner at 160 in 2014, that would be his ticket to the HOF IMO.

Well most real people give proper credit when it is due, but you know people here most are fake as 3 dollar bills or delusional enough to believe there are 3 dollar bills if told so.

IMO it comes from the fact people are putting him at an elite level with other great boxers such as Mayweather and Rigondeaux. If he were truly at that level he would've dealt with guys like Angulo and Vanes in a better fashion.

He's obviously a really good boxer, but in no way a great fighter that is going to walk through everyone in his division. Which shouldn't be interpreted as a knock on the guy, but he has shown flaws that other good fighter can take advantage off. Other than Mayweather there's no one around his weight class that he couldn't beat.

YES! But he is also a Counter Puncher and like most Counter Punchers they do leave themselves open at times because they are busy trying to catch and time their opponent

But yes overall I would consider Lara very Slick but a little Sloppy sometimes Defensively

Was on the Wright/Williams undercard IIRC. It's a horrible fight, worse than Vanes and the Molina fights.

This is against a guy who Berto sparked in 70 seconds.
