I guess you cant be a "hardcore boxing fan" unless you like to get bored at a guy running for 8+ rounds, all while watching his feet.
So proper footwork is running? If thats the case, then plaster man and Rios needs to start running because they're terrible boxers.

I'd call him a pure boxer that uses his footwork to set up his shots andfor defense.

When I think of a slick fighter I think of a guy that can stand in the pocket and roll, slip, duck and counter. Use not only great footwork but also upper body and head movement. Lara shells up when his opponent closes the distance.

I don't know if I'd call him "slick". But he's a good defensive boxer.

I've seen both those fights and whether you liked what you saw or not, Lara has not reached this level by simply running.

Being slick and moving are two different things...You can be slick and not even move your leg. I've seen Miguel Cotto move his leg, does that make him slick?

I have been to 1 Lara fight live (vs. Trout) and the arena booed him to hell. He is a mover (borderline runner)...a slick fight would have never been him by Angulo.

Another reason why he is a runner (f>ck it, he's a runner)...is because he was moving against Trout for no reason....Trout is no Angulo when it comes to ferocity so why run.
It takes two to tango and Lara carried Trout most of that fight.

Even if Trout is not a puncher he's supposed to stand and trade? He fights his fight. Who the fk are you to judge? If you don't like it then get in the ring and fight the way you think people should fight. Stop living your dreams thru boxers just cause you didn't make it.

Sure. Slick just means you have a style that employs a lot of defensive angles that you move with. It doesn't necessarily mean you're great at it just that that's the style you fight with. Paul McCloskey, Lara and Mayweather are all "slick" in their style. They live in three different hoods with how good they are at it but they all have a slick style.

No, there is nothing tricky about Lara. I don't see much feints or directional feints.

Lara likes to move. With that being said, when absolutely necessary he'll stand his ground and exchange with you.

You said it yourself. Lara tries his best at doing it. But he is average at it. If we want to consider him slick of course.

Lara gets hit way too much to be considered slick.
