Ummm, Arum... Gamboa just said he'd fight for 500K.

I do understand his resentment towards Gamboa, it is justified. Gamboa was very unprofessional and completely disrespectful with Top Rank. It is something that I can accept because I remember being just as pissed when this clown ducked Rios.

So you must have been even more furious when Abril schooled Rios. Just saying.

It's become a widespread myth that Gamboa "ducked" Rios. Yes, it turned out to be an inadvisable move; but Yuri was in a horrendous situation. He was signed to a dual-promotional contract with TR and Arena Box. As anyone familiar with AB's Ahmet Oner knows, he's a snake. Gamboa was looking to get out from under that slave contract that he signed as an unwitting defector. Unfortunately, his decision turned out to be a case of "cutting off his nose to spite his face."

Furious? How? When Rios officially won the fight. Check BoxRec . It was one of my favorite nights seeing the face of sissy Abril when Rios was announced as the winner.

Still, he put himself in that position. He was contractually obligated to TR. He should have put the gloves on even with tears running down his face, Bob Arum owned him.

That robbery hurt even more than the Williams-Lara heist. Abril was completely unheralded, and he took Rios to school. I even made a small bet on it at the casino (I was in Vegas at the time). Could've made a "hunny" off the twenty I put on Richie. Those mofos picked my pockets, too. lol

I won't argue against that. It's clear that Gamboa's still paying for that little maneuver. All I'm saying is that you should understand what were the circumstances that led to Yuri's actions. People do ****** shit sometimes, but there are often good reasons why.

Yeah, I gotcha man. I'm torn with this because I ACTUALLY do like Gamboa, only Cuban boxer I support... His style is appealing to me. He was a different beast back in 2008 though... I don't know if all of these distractions along the way have interfered with his interest / hunger in the sport.

At his best, Gamboa was absolutely electrifying. The worst thing about that whole Rios mess is that Yuri has been so inactive. He's not the same fighter. He may never be the same fighter again. It's almost tragic. He had the potential to be a real star. Even now, despite everything that's happened, people still want to see him fight.
