I would love to see this fight, I just understand the reality of the business. You can't just make the fight that the hardcore fans want to see. You have to make a fight everyone wants to see and make sure the networks are on board.
Cu****uy said gamboa is better than Salido, Rocky and Burgos....is he? He beat Salido in a good fight and got knocked down. Martinez and Burgos are good fighters. I think gamboa is better, but he hasn't been active and hasn't been on tv.
Boxing isn't like riding a bike, you need to stay active to be sharp. Not everyone is Floyd.
I know you guys are pulling for your fighter, but I think you need to step back and look at the business aspect of it. Believe me, I'm NOT defending Arum, I just think making this fight is not as easy as some might think.

Grown folks are talking, stop interrupting.
By the way, as a lifelong chess-player, I'm quite proud of the Cuban genius Capablanca.

It was Mexico vs PR at first.
Then it was Mexico vs The Philippines.
Now they are saying it will be Mexico vs Cuba.
Do you see a common denominator in all those examples?
I hope we do see another great rivalry come on, I really do. Even though it won't be as intense because Mexico and Cuba have always been on good terms as countries go. Remember Mantequilla Napoles.

Instead of Garcia-Gamboa, Arum is going to match Garcia against some stiff in his next two fights, with plans to put him in the ring with Pacquaio in April 2015. Lomachenko is going to get a second title shot in a row (after losing the first one) in his the third fight of his career. Marquez, instead of fighting Provodnikov, is fighting Alvarado, who recently lost to Provodnikov.
In the meantime, Richard Schafer is going to pit Amir Khan against Luis Collazo instead of the tougher opponent in Guerrro; he is pitting Porter against feather-fisted Malignaggi instead of a quality opponent like Thurman or Guerrerro or even someone with something to prove, like Amir Khan. Danny Garcial is fighting a nobody this weekend and Adrien Broner is fighting a noboby on May 3.
I created a thread a few weeks ago that stated that, so far, Boxing sucks in 2014. Some of the idiots on this site claimed that I was exaggerating and that things would get better. Unfortunately, Arum and Schafer are doing everything they can to prove me right.

I don't know if the definition of "good fighter" has changed but Rocky Martinez is not a good fighter in my book. He has never beaten anyone decent without controversy.

Arum is so wrong here. This is like the Juanma fight all over again. Part of the reason Arum is like this is because he's salty Gamboa left TR I'm sure. Fact of the matter is Arum was trying to make Gamboa fight a WW in Rios and that was straight bull****. It's a good thing Gamboa realized this and dipped out on the fight. Unprofessional or not he was being managed horribly.
Gamboa is one of the most talented fighters of the last 10 years and he is barely in the picture. He reminds me a little of Guzman.
