  • Comments Thread For: Rios: Provodnikov-DeMarco is a Piece of **** Fight

MGM Grand, Las Vegas - Former champion Brandon Rios (31-2-1, 23KOs) is pushing hard to get his hands on the WBO junior welterweight beltholder, Ruslan Provodnikov (23-2, 16KOs).

Provodnikov has a tentative return date of June 14th on HBO. The likely opponent being mentioned is former lightweight champion Antonio DeMarco (30-3-1, 23KOs), who now fights at 140-pounds. Rios, also slated to return in the month of June, is already in the gym and training for his next return.

I actually like the fight. DeMarco is solid and should give Prov some stuff he hasn't really seen.

I'm sure Rios can get his shot if he gets some momentum back. He looked terrible against Pac.

No one wants to see Rios fight ever again! He was destroyed in his last fight and was noe even competitive.

It would be disappointing considering Provodnikov's breakout 2013. He should get a better fight. Sucks that the Rios fight is causing reluctance.

Me too. I feel like I'm one of the few people who aren't automatically shitting on this fight, although I can understand everyone's desire to see Prov face someone of a higher calibre after the Bradley and Alvarado fights.

I also seem to remember DeMarco doing OK early on against Valero, and let's not forget the paintjob he did in the later rounds against Linares. He'll likely lose to Prov after getting broken down, but I reckon he could surprise people at first.
